  • New P45 Owner in Nashville

    Hello, Ladies and Gentlemen.

I just wanted to say 'howdy' and introduce myself as a new Kahr owner here on the forum. I jumped on an incredibly sweet P45 deal yesterday, and now I'm just waiting on delivery. Being a veteran of other gun forums, I'm well aware of the "Pics, or it didn't happen!" rule, so I'll be back next week to show it off.

In the meantime, I'll just nose around to learn as much as I can about the community here, what you're doing to dress up your hardware, what accessories you're buying, and any care and feeding tips you've developed.

    Thanks,
    Dean

    Welcome,

I love my P45, I use it for home defense and fun.
I had it magna-ported to reduce recoil and lift (already minimal) but mostly for the cool factor. I also added a Crimson Trace laser.

I think you are going to like the P45.

Welcome. As your anxiously awaiting the new addition to your gun wardrobe you can visit the tech section and look over Jocko's proper prep of your new Kahr. Some good stuff there.
The owners manuals for all models are also here via a link. Kahrs are one gun where it pays to read the manual rather than line the bird cage with it.
I think your gonna be very happy with your new gun.
Lots of good guys here and and lots of knowlege to share. Keep us posted on how things progress.

        New P45

Congratulations on the new Kahr .45! Welcome to the forum, by the way this is a terrific forum and knowledgeable supporters of the Kahr pistol. I really like my CW9 so I am certain you will enjoy shooting your P45.

Just so you know Mr. cptdean, I'd avoid that Ladies and gentlemen talk. We had a gentleman here once but he just didn't fit in to well. We still got at least one lady Ms TD2K or something close to that. Closest we got to a gentleman now I think is JohnH and I don't know how he stays so on track and civil in this group. Maybe since it's his group maybe??????
You say gentlmen and so many feel left out and uninvited, Jocko, Wynn, Dietrich, ryoung, WMD, mostly myself. Just dont have a normal ring to it if you follow the flow of my stream.

Welcome to the asylum, you're going to love the P45. As for mods, I rounded my slide stop, and gave a fluff and buff. That's it. I have a Don Hume that I carry IWB, and an el cheapo from Cheaper Than Dirt, tuckable, paid a whopping 10 bucks for it. It is the one for the 380's. Bawanna, I must have missed where I am invited or a gentleman... oh wait, I never get accused of being either.

But of course. I mean have you ever known me to be a gentleman?

I just penciled ya in so it's easy to move you to the gentleman side if you want to try that. It never worked for me. Course you can't confuse gentleman with chivalry. I still open doors for the ladies (even ugly ones). So long as I'm drawing air chivalry ain't dead. Course I'd lay down in mud puddles for angels but they gotta be hot or at least darn cute!

Hey!! I was declared a "Gentleman" by act of congress in 1964 when I was commissioned as an Ensign in the US Navy. We all know that congress is never wrong. HA!!!!

Well if they said so it must be true. I'll add you to the "gentleman" column.

I bent a doubled up paper clip in half once. Ok I used pliers a little.

First, YOU GUYS ARE CERTIFIED NUTS!

Thanks for the warm welcome. Everyone sure seems to get along and I have a feeling I'm going to like hanging out here. I'll do my best to keep up or stay the hell out of the way.

Second, thanks for the great tips. I've read through Jocko's Prep thread, read the downloaded manual cover-to-cover, and saved a copy of the lube guide pic so I'll always have it handy. Also, great tips on the slide stop (rounding and checking for clearance) and using the clean out hole to save from full disassembly. I've got about 400 rounds of various brand FMJ to start my break-in process, then it'll get a spot on my hip.

                            A bit more about me...

I'm prior service Army ('86-'89), no action but service in Korea qualified me for VFW membership so I became a lifetime member with my dad (Vietnam vet); I've owned more guns than I can remember (shame I didn't keep each and every one of them) including an early model Kahr E9; I've spent too much time and money lately building/rebuilding ARs and 1911s; I know a fair bit about computers (my day job) and gadgets (just because I like them); and (best for last) I'm married to a beautiful Australian woman who fully encourages my gun habit. <--- GREAT BIG HAPPY GRIN

The P45 is replacing a Colt New Agent for heavy carry, and will be joining the LCP that's always with me (until I get a P380). My rebuilt Springfield GI may get some carry action when the weather gets colder, and a Springfield XD45 Service provides 13+1 rounds of sleeping comfort beside my bed each night. My first AR build (Spike's upper and lower) went to my dad as a gift for his patrol car and my second will be sporting an ADCO dissipator style upper soon. As if all that weren't enough, NOW I've added the PM45, PM380, and T9 to my wish list. Oh well, it's only paper money, right?

That's about it for now. I'll be sure to chime in with bad jokes and worse opinions from here on out. By the way, don't put me on the gentlemen list.

Sounds like you'll do to ride the river with. Probably much to early to ask for pictures of the gun supportive beautiful Australian woman? Never hurts to ask specially since your in Nashville and I"m on the west coast. Naner naner naner.
Your dads a fellow lawman? Where abouts is he?

Do the wish list ever get smaller. Mine never seems to change. I get something and think, ok thats it I got all I need. And then I remember oh yeah, I still gotta get one of these and one of those. It's vicious circle.

I'll pencil ya in on the non gentleman side. Just swear to never wear a necktie when your on kahrtalk or it's right back to the gentleman side for you.

                              ok bye
