  • Made my own holster-CW9

What do you guys think on how it looks? This is my very first one. Any suggestions are appreciated along with honesty-you're not going to hurt my feelings so if you don't like it say so and why. Also don't worry about the back side of the snap I accounted for that already. I have also carried this and it's great better than I planned, real comfortable and easy on and off. It's 100% made by hand, which might show you decide.
    Thanks guys.

Thats cool! Is it IWB? Good job I am all thumbs and would most likely never try a holster project.

Yea IWB and it took about 2-3 hours with no planning at all. I've order a bunch of blue guns and am going to start making them. Here's one I made for my XD 3" and 4"

Nice work!... I can see it rides nice and high where I like too. Unique holster for a unique gun... Congrats... CW9's rock! Such a perfect middle-of-the-road gun. I'm appreciating mine more and more as time goes on.
P.S. I'm wondering if you're completely happy with the color... It's OK for me but if you're planning on making some to sell I'm thinking maybe experiment with some different colors... just sayin'...

I like the looks of the CW holster. Being all rounded off on the bottom is a big plus. The inside sweat guard or clothing guard whatever you wanna call it looks a bit sharp like it might jab ya on occasion but hard to tell from a picture too, maybe not an issue.
I'm with CW45fan, not nuts about the color, more traditional black but since its concealed maybe I could get over that too.
To be brutally honest I'm not as fond of the XD setup, not sure why, maybe loss of the wrap around look, not as form fitted. More like some of the nylon or leather rigs that are generic and not as gun specific.
Hate to criticise stuff but not in love with that one.

I think your onto something though, anxiously await pictures as they come off the assembly line.

That's exactly the stuff I want to hear; I can't improve it if I am the judge. But I agree with you about the XD holster, even though it fits nice I lost some form when I put the curve to it. The curve was not the original design but when I tried it on it didn't fit so well and that's where the curve came in. It also can be worn IWB or OWB with just some different clips or even just reversing them to the other side. The color is OD green, just wanted something different but I think black is the way to go too. I can get some wild stuff, I even have some that looks like wood with grain and all.

I'm still reworking the Springfield one, and I made one for a Kel Tec P-32/3AT. I also have some Kydex coming in black. Let me know what you think, I still am trying different ideas.

*I mean no offense, this is just constructive critisizm.*
The body on the kel-tec looks very nice, but the j-clip looks like it needs to be flattened out a bit. You don't really want a curved lump behind your belt from the clip. If you could get the piece between where it curves over the waistline of your pants and where it curves back up to be flat and a little more parallel with the holster it may work a little better. IMO
And I agree with Bawanna, there's just something lost on the XD holster.

Yep... That clip needs to be WAY flattened out on both ends... I think "streamlining" needs to be your new general design direction... (jus' tryin' to help...).

So are we all now part of the research and development division or what?

I dont know much about this making kydex stuff, fact is I don't know nothing at all but can't you buy them clips pieces already made up in different shapes and sizes? Maybe that isn't cost effective either, just something to consider before we incorporate and sell stock and stuff.

Again just constructive criticism, I'd try to keep the bottom rounded off to avoid the sharp edge printing or wearing on the inside of the pants. (probably not an issue for Dietrich as he often doesn't wear pants) and go back to the drawing board on the clip. Sorry man, the clip ain't making it.

For what it's worth the color is starting to grow on me for certain wardrobes.

Getting chilly in my part of the world, might have to hit the salvation army and find mea new jacket.

OK first thing please stop with saying it just criticism and all that; I asked for the truth and my feelings will not be hurt by anything that is criticism. I appreciate the cander but it's not necessary.

I am going to be working with slightly thinner kydex so it will look better. Also I made the Kel Tec one at almost 1am last night in like an hour and truth be told I agree with what has been said about the clip and have just walked any for today to clear out and rethink some ideas. I have to finish sanding it also so those edges won't be there when it's done. Please keep it coming, again I asked for this so don't be shy. I do like the OD color but I ordered only black for now but I can get this stuff pretty quickly if need be, but whatever.

The clips can be had but for the most part it's metal clips like on a CBST which is fine but I'm still working on options, for the most part they are also IWB clips and I'm not sure if I like them I will order some and try it but I do like the IWB loops like the one on the CW9 holster but I will be trying to use 2 instead of 1.
The XD holster is just a wash and needs to be remade and when my order shows up Tues. I'm jumping right on it. I'm also making some of my own tools for this so that's an adventure in it's own, you guys are all part of R&D and I greatly appreciate it and will show my gratitude to you and to the forum for the help that is here and also for allowing me to have an opportunity to even attempt something like this and be supported doing it. So for now thanks to everyone for inputting into my adventure so far, until I can come up with a better way to thank you.
I'll be posting up just about everything I make and fully expect to hear critique for all of it, so for now I'm taking a break from it and will probably try to make the clip better later on and re-post some pics.
                      Thanks guys

So basically your saying love means never having to say your sorry? I think I saw that in a movie once, might have been black and white, long ago.

I have started to like the OD for certain occasions. I'm actually looking for a kydex holster to wear on camping trips and hikes, I think it'd work great for that.

No not quite that fruity, and if you have EVER been in a relationship you know that's as far from the truth as possible.

[B]I don't know, every relationship I've ever been in they said they were sorry they ever met me, made me feel kind of bad. I better ease up on relationships and love, I don't like that fruity handle much.
