First KAHR, First Post: I love my CW9

I have had my CW9 for a week and I have put around 400 rounds through it. The first outing was questionable at best accuracy wise but the pistol functioned perfectly no FTF or FTE. A lot of people have complained about the stippling on the grip being uncomfortable to the hand, but honestly I don't mind it even after 2 200 round days. After the first trip the gun was EXTRA dirty, and I cleaned it and went back today, about half way through my day the gun really started to perform. I put 8 rounds into a 1 1/2" orange dot target at 25 feet in succession, and also had this grouping at 25 feet on blank paper. I was using the cheap UMC bulk ammo 115 gr FMJ. I had one FTE today that I think was caused by accidentally partially depressing the magazine release when I fired the round. Overall, I am VERY pleased with this firearm so far, the results speak for themselves really. I did install a Hogue Handall Jr. today after the range as well, and it should make the accuracy even better with a rock solid grip on the firearm. I also have the night sights in the mail from KAHR and put in my order for a Crossbreed supertuck which, unfortunately, is backordered out about 5 damn weeks! :barf:

Got back from the gunsmith today and had my Night Sights professionally installed. I did the front and punched out the stock back sight, he filed and pushed the rear sight in for me for 20$.

Also added a Hogue Handall JR which I like very much so far.

Now I just have to wait 3 more weeks for the crossbreed supertuck

I've had my CW9 almost 2 years, and remember your exact feelings as clear as if it were yesterday. I still get the grins every time I take it to the range. I've only put about 1000 rounds through it, but all have been 100% flawless. Also, good decision to install the night sights. You now have a perfect concealed carry handgun.

looks like you have several things going for you..a kahr, reliable at that, opportunity to shoot 400 rounds in a week, accurate shooter, and have a great holster on order. night sights aren't a big deal to me but i guess you got that too!

Thanks guys. I am actually a little concerned.... the gun was shooting bullets through THE SAME HOLE with the stock sights, and now I have switched over to the night sights, I am hoping they are lined up and centered well, otherwise I may not see the same performance I had with the stock sights.

Exactly my fear about going to night sights from my super stock sights, GLU.

well it will still put them through the same hole, just if anything that hole might have moved some..but i'd say you'll be alright

I suppose I should have said that "I" was putting shots through the same hole, not the gun, haha. The accuracy of the weapon hasn't changed, but the site picture has, and if it is out of alignment I worry I may not get the same performance.

Welcome to the forum, great report and good shooting.

Just drift the rear sight if you notice that you are not shooting the way you were before installation of the new ones. BTW they do look good.

Welcome aboard! I have a supertuck for my K40 and love it. I almost picked up a CW9 but went with the CW45 instead when I compared the two. One of these days I'm going to get some night sights for the 45.

Nice shootin'! That picture with the glowing tritium vials in the night sights got me thinking though—sure you can see the sights, but you still wouldn't be able to see the bad guy!

the trit sights are a huge plus in dimly lit areas like parking lots, as well as under moonlight where you can still see your target. I've turned off the range lights and shot steel targets under moonlight with my night sight equipped handguns. Huge improvement, especially if you've trained yourself in point shooting where all you need do is paste the front sight on the target.

haha, Yeah, I actually just took that picture as a representation of what the sight picture was like with the night sights. I took them in a windowless room in complete darkness, although the sights do make a huge difference in low light conditions (as mentioned above a parking lot, or anywhere at dusk) I think the real practical use is NOT in complete darkness (obviously).
