  • dammit do what you're taght!

Ok ive only been shooting since feb. but ive got over 1000 rounds between my cw45 and cw9! so i like to think i know what im doing?.
Heres how it went down, i was at the place by the river where i shoot, i have tons of empty green smal camping propane cans so i figured id shoot at them from 60 feet.
I was doing quite well, did i mention i just replaced the ejector, spring, and both pins in my cw9? Ok so i hit the last can i wanted to hit.
dropped the mag from the cw9, emptied remaining bullets from mag. put bullets in case where i had got them from, put guns in case and closed. (wait for it)
I clean up my mess and put gun case and bullets in the trunk of my lincoln ls, i just threw that in there because it gets better!.
I proceed to pick up my brass and leave. So i go to a friends to give him his 600 bucks i had in my pocket and he asked if i got the cw9 fixed so i say yeah ill show you what i replaced. I open the trunk and since he lives in a nice neighborhood i was going to take the slide off of the gun so i was not to offend anyone.
heres the good part. ok it really sucks!!!!!!
So i grab the gun and there is no mag in it. point it into the trunk remove the takedown pin grab the slide pull the trigger,(any guesses?) BAM!!!!!!! yeah i forgot to check for a round in the chamber so i shot a bullet into my trunk and it hit the gun case and hit my cw45!
i was all SCREWED up and had no clue what to do so i put the gun in the trunk checked for holes in the car and GTFO.
Heres the dammage. i lost 1 9mm and my new flush mount 45 mag which was empty in the gun thank god! and the bullet knocked the trigger bar cover off unharmed and bent the bejesus out of the spring. after close inspection the only dammage was the trigger bar spring because i found the screw that holds the cover on but its probably stripped now. so 10 dollars worth of parts later the cw45 will be fixed. now the reason i told all of this.
what size allen wrench does that screw take?.
Go ahead take your shots, i have no excuses other than not doing what i was told to do time and time again.
But in the end theres no damage to my car! i NEVER HAD THE GUN POINTED AT A HOUSE OR ANYONE! AND MY 400 DOLLAR GUN WILL BE FINE AND I LEARNED A VALUABLE LESSON THE HARD WAY!

Your not the first to do something like that. Many have done it before you. I'd be willing to bet a substantial sum that you won't ever do it again.
The fact that you followed the rest of the safety rules even though you stumbled on one saved the day, possibly somebodies life and who knows what possible property damage.

Hold your head up. LIve and learn. It takes a man to fess up to a mistake like that or many others for that matter.

I have a story to tell too but I'm not man enough.

yeah the sad part was it was my ccw instructor that saw it but he said in the situation hat it was i.e. no one or nothing got hurt take it with a grain of salt basically and he also added he would keep his mouth shut for 100 bucks. haha
he also commented that other than not clearing the chamber he watched and said i did everything right.

we won't live enough to make all the mistakes so we hav eto lear from "others" NEWKAHROWNER is only telling us what many have done and will never relate to a forum. Kudos to him. We shouyld learnb from this not judge him or others from it. We all make mistakes, some with guns, some with motorcycles!!!!, some with women, if you did all three then u should be looked at really closely by a good psychiatrists..

My appointent isnext Monday at 8 a.m.!!
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

I appreciate your lesson, as that sounds like a mistake all too easy to make and perhaps hearing that it has actually happened will help keep myself and others from the same error.

              Glad no one was hurt.

Read this and reminded me of last night.
Getting ready to clean my AK. Had it up in the fixture and got distracted.
Came back and started in and had to say to myself, "follow procedure".
Checked and cleared again before starting.

This is a good reminder to keep following procedures all the time.

                Glad no one was hurt.

Sorry about your .45 but it sounds like it won't be mad at you too long....

So . . . is someone going to answer the original poster's question and tell him the wrench size he needs or point him to the source of the information?
It would be so nice if something made sense for a change.

CW45 Trigger Bar Cover allen screw size?

It's likely a torq type and a #2. However, if truly stripped and the same setup as the PM9, the poly frame is what stripped and that's another story. I suppose others have patched that up but I wouldn't know how.

sure can, as you can see the magazine took all of the force out of the bullet, i put the plastic back where it needed to be for the cover to fit back on as it would from the factory. i should have the spring at the end of the week and will cycle some of the dummy reloads i made up to make sure everything is working fine before i attempt to shoot it!

That's awesome! It's a keeper. You can make up a good story to share whenever anyone asks.

Maybe we should start a new thread where we can all help you with your "story".
