  • SS guide rod and 4.0 ported barrel cw9

Okay new to KAHR I can't pick up my new cw9 until next Thursday. And after years of keeping a weapon in my truck I'm finally gonna get my ccw next Thursday. So I was wondering I don't have it yet is the guide rod on the cw9 polymer. The ss guide rod is only 26 bucks so should I go ahead and get it before I even get the pistol in. Also has anyone bought the ported barrel from kahr. It looks like it's longer and I'm guessingnit would hang out. If anyone has pics of this please let ne see it. I'm interested in it.

No. It is steel, just not SS.
      Very interesting...

The CW9 guide rod is steel. Buy stainless if you want... it is not a need.

It sticks out the front. Someone will soon post a pic.

Judging by today's left wing, looks like Senator Joe McCarthy was right after all.

If it's steel then I'm not gonna waste my money. How about the ported barrel any thoughts on that.

The CW9 is a 9mm gun and it is, like all Kahrs, noted for its low recoil. Its also noted for its compact dimensions, which make it ideal for a carry weapon. So, IMHO, use your money to buy extra mags and the Trijicon front sight to replace the plastic one.

Or use it for ammo or take your wife to dinner for letting you buy the CW in the first place.

The ported barrel does stick out, it has to since the slide isn't cut for it. In the future if you decide you want it ported, send it to Magna Port. It's cleaner looking, stays exactly the same size. You can send in just the slide and barrel and you'll have it back in about a week.

I agree the 9 doesn't really need porting but many here have done so and like it alot.

Flowers would be good, extra mags would be better, maybe a holster now that your gonna CCW. I'd do that, your wife will get revenge anyhow so why worry about it.

Thanks alot guys. Just can't wait to get it in clean it and break it in. Im not a big fan of spending money just because. The XD-40 I replaced with this was just heavy. Even though it was a sub-compact. Thanks for all the info. I would still lime to see a pic if one with the ported barell.

Welcome to the forum. Here you go. I did a Google search for "kahr cw9 with ported barrel pictures", chose one, saved it to my computer, logged into my free Photobucket account, uploaded it, copied the image link and here it is...

Sweet thanks. Looks cool I guess. I'm used to shooting my colt gold cup trophy and an XD-40 subcompact 40 s&w. So I'm hoping the 9 will be pretty tame. I've never owned a 9mm.

Of course I could always carry my most trusted sidearm. My 1956 high standard sentinel R-101 22 long rifle. My grandfather bought it new and used it as his do-all fishing, snake and whatever gun. High sentimental value for me.

I WAS thinking about the K40 with a ported barrel, NS, and CT grips, but the Magna-Ported P40 sounded more like something I could CCW as well. Still need the sights upgraded, but don't like the laser alternatives for P40s... ugly and in the way.

haved u got that P40 running right yet. as u \know, don't port it until it is dead nuts running right...I think anything u can do with a K40 (which is one hell of a nice gun) u can do with a P40 and be carrying far less, e xcept the CT grips--NO CANDO.
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

I don't "need" the laser, but I would like different sights. The weight savings over the K40 make it good for CCW... and the fact that it just drops into my PM9's MiniTuck, is all the more attractive, though the K40 would, too.

I just have a problem with the rounds not going into battery about 10% of the time now... annoying. I can duplicate that by pushing a round into the chamber angled upwards. It catches on something, but doesn't seem to be the nose of the bullet on the start of the barrel. I'll get around to posting that on my thread... getting off on someone else's now.
