  • Kahr Customer Service -- Slowly Getting Worse

Got my P380 about 3 weeks ago.

First range trip, I couldn't fire more than 1 round without it getting Stovepiped/Failing to fully go back in to battery/etc...

It took me about 30 minutes to fire 1 box of 50 rounds (constant clearing, reracking, etc.... I knew & saw the reviews before getting mine. Called Kahr up without issue, had a label within 24 hours and she has now been sitting back at Kahr for 2 weeks.

Called in the past 3 days trying to see if I could get an update. The phone system kept looping me between a girls voice/music/then a guys voice. It would automatically make me leave a message (mind you, this was during normal business hours)

Left a message on Tuesday. Tried calling yesterday, same issue ... Looping around and never got through. Tried calling today, same issue.

So, not only can I not get through via Telephone, my message's have not been returned

I dealt with Kahr about a year ago, and the experience was super pleasant, and outside of holding for a few minutes, always got through. Now I can't get through for 3 days in a row.

Just thought I would vent, thanks for listening

I got through within 2 minutes today, have you tried email?

Only plus side I can see is that I'd rather have my gun take longer to get back if fixed right, than to be sent back quickly and still be broken.

I know it sucks, hang in there!

What time did you get through?

I tried Mornings on Tuesday & Yesterday ... No luck.

Thought I'd switch it up today and called this afternoon ... Still no luck.

I was just hoping they give me a new frame/slide and call it a day.

Haven't tried email .... Do you have a rep's email address there instead of just a general mail box?

My presumption based on what I've heard on the forum: They are replacing a lot of frames on the 380 and have a backlog. Imagine a hundred callers a day asking about their guns. They should send an email or postcard asking for patience and informing a 4 week normal turnaround, dependent on new frame arrivals.

You might ask why in the blank can't they get frames. Well there is a process and equipment setup to produce them from the mold. Also, the machine likely makes a run of one frame then a run of another on a productions schedule. Any change in that and there becomes a shortage of another frame. That shortage becomes a backorder of new guns. That means missed new sales and revenue. That translates into budgeting issues which float further up the line.

So, I'm guessing they have increased the number of 380 frames manufactured as they can without disrupting the schedule out of allowable bounds. Most production companies have constraints in personnel, materials, and machines and balance load between them.

EMAIL with pictures... in print with picture to show the problem... no waiting on the phone and them transcribing your info incorrectly. Kahr.com has all of the contact info and should be your first "stop"... customer service and tech support.

Hmmmm. I called Kahr and left a message yesterday about 11AM. I got a call back today about 10AM and got my P380 situation on the hot box again.
Pleasant conversation with the Kahr rep, getting a RA emailed. I can't complain about the customer service.
I'm not minimizing your problem, just saying it doesn't appear to me to be getting worse, just different.

I have never resorted to leaving a message before, and the one time I did (yesterday), it worked nicely.

I think the P380 backlog has caused them to modify the customer service experience, as OldLincoln so eloquently stated above.

assume there is a frame change that even though we can't see it, there is a change, maybe in stiffness etc, who knows but they ain''t gonna order 10K of them without getting some off the press first to test out, which maybe means sending some new frames to owners etc. Because we think they have made a preodu7ction change does not necessarily mean IT WILL WORK. I am sure the first models off the press Kahr felt THEY WOULD BE PERFECT ALSO. Mold changes expecially with vendors whom we know not who that is or what state theyt might even be in does not happen in 30 days or 60 days. It takes time . Not an excuse for kahr, but it is a fact. I am hoping that what ever changes they make will get the job done..

is the " were sorry, due to telephone company trouble" message common? i am going to send my cw45 back finally. it shot great but is developing a takedown pin popping out problem as of late!

If you haven't already sent it back, wait. The same thing happened to my new CW45. If you call them and explain, they will send you a new slide stop/take down spring. You will need a torque wrench #6. You can get a multi-torque tool at Lowe's for about $6. Loosen the screw, replace spring, and tighten it just enuf that it's snug. Don't over tighten as you may strip the polymer. Another member had the same problem and I took his advice and now my pistol works perfectly. Hope this helps. Oh, there is a video on this forum somewhere on this.

                              Patbelly,

I think you mean a TORX T6 screwdriver, not a torque wrench.

Similiar sound, may confuse the guys at Lowes.

                              Regards, Jim K
