PM9....functionally the same gun. It didn't initially like HydraShok and it's still not totally fond of Magtech ball but after initial break-in it's eaten anything I've fed it over the last three years.

My MK9 still dislikes Magtech to the point I won't make it play with that anymore.

    My K9 doesn't care....it's happy with anything.

I ran some PMC Bronze 115g jhp after 200 rounds of fmj for break in and had no problems. It's pretty cheap too- think I paid $18 for 50. I have 2 6 round mags and have had only one FTE when my left hand got in the way of the slide. See where the slide bit me!

My recently aquired "old Style" pm9 has some problems with +p loads-slide not locking back on 7 round mags, ok now with standard velocity ammo since I updated the mag springs. I'm using federal 9BP, non +p. It has a narrow, rounded nose and feeds good. It is also considered an effective non +p round.

KMA: the CM9 likes Corbon DPX too.

My problem was that the profile of the Gold Dot was bigger than the FMJ. It would hit the bottom of the slide stop as a round cycled up from the mag. This would make the slide lock open after a shot. Happened about once every mag, sometimes twice. They ground the profile of the stop down a bit to provide clearance. Never had a stovepipe. All my failures were from premature slide lockback.

              Thanks Hognutz.

Eltee: I've used the 9bp load for more than 30 years. I find it very reliable and accurate in all my autos. It's also reasonably priced.

crazymailman, are you LE? I thought that the Federal HST was law enforcement only now. If you're not LE...then where did you pick it up?

I hit the range today to try out some different SD ammo for my cm9. I shot 100 UMC 115gr fmj, 25 115gr critical defense, 20 100gr powerball +p, 25 124gr gold dot +p, and 25 federal (can't remember exactly which jhp). I was hoping to see what the gun liked and didn't like and choose my carry ammo. Well, couldn't get it to malfunction with any ammo. It now has about 400 rounds of 7 different brand ammo, and zero malfunctions. I love this little gun.

The Hornady Critical Defense are designed to feed in just about
any gun. To wit, they are the only defensive load recommended by
                    Diamondback for their problematic DB9.

Your stovepipe could have been caused by the fact that when
you ran the CDs through your gun wasn't broken in yet.

                    I have both the CM9 and PM9
both guns after proper break in feed
                    124gr +p Gold dots
                    124 gr +p Rangers
                    127gr +p+ Rangers
                    147 gr HSTs
                    115 gr Crirical Defense
                    124 gr +p Golden Sabers

                    all reliably.

My wife carries the Hornady CD in the CM9
for the very low recoil and fast follow up shots.

I don't get the "For Law Enforcement Only" like the Rangers and HST's. Shouldn't we have the same right to defend ourselves as the cops? And access to the same ammo?
I've had good luck on my CW40 and CW45 with Rangers, Hydrashoks, and Gold Dots, and Golden Sabres. Except the 45 wouldn't feed the Ranger +P very well until I got a new recoil spring, and it only had about 500 rounds through it. But now it seems to eat everthing I feed it, as long as I use the 6 round mags, the 7 round mags don't work worth a sh!t. Kahr wants me to send it in for them to look at with the three 7 round mags I have trouble with. I think I'll wait until summer when people are wearing lighter clothes.

Federal HST 124's have been flawless in my CM9. I didn't even try them until after a couple hundred rounds of import FMJ's. I DEFINITELY experienced a "break-in" with the pistol. Bought it new, went through the "Racking" exercise at home before ever taking it to the range. Followed the lube suggestions here.
                        Hope this helps.

No, I'm not LE. You can find them at ammotogo, and Streichers. There may be other sellers as well. I don't think there's any law that says you can't own ammo marked LE. They sold it to me anyway.

I've never understood all the LE only stuff either. I saw a big thread on another forum, I think. It seems to be more of a marketing thing, focusing on the larger orders of LE agencies.

I run Corbon DPX in my CM9

I tested the round in a k9 that i used to have. I compared it to HST, Gold Dot, and a cheap jhp.

I used wetpack(soaked, packed newpaper) in milk jugs lined up in a row with 4 layers of
denim on the first jug to simulate heavy clothing.

The corbon expanded to almost 3/4 inch consistently, better than the others.

                            The penetration was also better.

                            The HST was second.

I would add the Corbon never, ever jammed in any pistol that i have owned.
