  • Quick CM9/PM9 Question

With the slide stop spring, should there be any "play" in the up or down motion of the slide stop?

I have noticed that even with the slide stop spring "snugly" tightened down, and the slide stop spring "looks" right, per others pictures,
the slide stop has a tiny bit of up and down movement (not enough to allow it to hit the slide catch.

Is this normal? Shouldnt it be tight and under tension through the whole movement?

I am asking because I am continueing to have premature slide lock back.

I also am watching very closely to make sure my hand is not hitting the slidestop as well

I smoothed out the edge where I thought the bullets were hitting on the slide stop

I think now that there is a different culprit, the slide stop spring, or a deficiency in the slide stop

    Thoughts?

Contact Kahr CS. You don't have to tell them you sanded the slide stop or that you tightened the spring (watch out not to overdo that and strip the threads in the frame). Just tell them you are getting premature lock back. They may want to see the gun. Ask if they will cover shipping. You could suggest that they just send you a new slide stop and spring.
      Very interesting...

u might have that slide stop spring to snug. as u know it never really tightens, so backit off a quarter turn and see if that helps any. IMO the side stop lever shouldhave no free upward play. that is the purpose ofthat spring to keep it down ward. If it has any free upward play just the slightest touch with it during firing a=]can preengage that slide stop. why not call kahr and ask for a new springhy and then if they say yes, then take a pair of needle nose pliers and tweekthat spring tip downward a tad, leave it on the frame and do this. sometimes one can bend that little sprighy thing and not even know they did it when reinstalling the slide stop .ever. I try to put a tad of grease on that inner lug of the lever that engages under that spring tip. If u look on that slide stop lever u will see that lug where the spring tip goes and on that lug there is a small groove there, the spring must be in that groove, That also keeps that slide stop from moving outward to.

If u know u have a new springhy coming, the worstr ucan do by tweekig it is to ruin it, the best u can do is actually fix it, it is not rocket science, useem to have figured out some of it already. the leas one messes with that little screw the better to..

be very sure that rounds are not hitting that slide stop lever on the insdie either.
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

I just checked my PM9 and found that I could move my slide release lever aprox 1mm upwards by finger pressure and then the spring would move it back down into resting position.
