Give the Winchester Ranger Bonded (RA9B) 147 gr. load a try.

I can't speak to the expansion of the bullet but they feed 100% in my PM9 and the accuracy is very good.

Hard to find but I know a couple of years back HST was king.
I still have some Federal HST 124+p that will get tried out in my Kahr 9mm when I get one.

I've tried HST, Gold Dot, Critical Defense and many more - they all nose dive hard when hand racking my PM9, anything Winchester is smooth as butter.

I got through my break-in period last weekend. Then I ran about 18 rounds of Federal HST without a hiccup. So my CM9 is presently loaded with Federal HST. Plus you get 50 rounds for like $25. It's that much for 20 rounds of the other premium stuff.

That was kind of mine question to begin this....I have shot WWB for years out of my XD9.....like the Federal HST....they are cheaper that the primo stuff.....

are they that different?.....will they not expand?.....Like Pocket Pistol said....WWB...about $25 for 50 rounds.

Same as Roger. The PDX1 .40 S&W had the lowest flashes in my limited testing, though.

so this leads to 2 questions:

                  1. I hear a LOT of thrash talk against the WWB rounds....Why?......I have shot them for years....everytime a have pulled the trigger they go bang???

                  and

                  2. What are you Carrying?....What runs best in you Kahr?

                  Thanks!

If I could consistently find them and afford them, I'd shoot Federal HST 135 gr +P. Having said that, you lose so very very little (in short barrels) going to standard pressure 124 gr, I shoot those in Federal HST. My #2 choice is Speer Gold Dot 115 or 124gr. Next on my list is Winchester PDX1

IMO, when it comes to personal protection ammo, the cost is irrelevant as long as function in ones own pistol is 100% and if that means paying premium price, so be it.

I agree, but then I admit I'm not very perceptive on this kind of thing.

I've tried a couple of different brands including Federal HST and the Winchesters, and I really can't tell any difference. They all seem the same to me: they go bang and they hit the target. That's all I really need.

I keep reading various tests that show some small measured differences in velocity, size of cavity created, etc, but I can't really translate that into anything but numbers and theory.

Debate over this reminds me of the endless debates about wine: which vintage is supposedly better than the other, etc, and where people are strangely willing to pay huge premiums for a variety that is somehow infinitesimally "superior" to similar items. I can sometimes tell the difference, but am happy that I am very satisfied without needing to spend $$$ on the very best.

And I keep telling myself that I wouldn't appreciate a Wilson, either.

I had a Wilson CQB and liked it a lot. I guess I actually appreciated it at the time however, I really appreciate and like my Ed Brown Kobra Carry and still have that one.

The cost of the best personal protection ammo for your pistol is a very small part of the cost factor when one considers how much the pistol cost.

Another vote for Speer Gold Dot 124 gr HP. Don't care for the +P version in a short barreled gun.

Anyone have a video comparing the recoil of the cm9 with +p loads vs standard pressure?

                                Undoubtedly.

I did a poll a while back on this board to find out if people spent more on guns or on ammo http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=10597 and 63% of respondents said they spent more on guns, which further bears out your assertion.

I am definitely in the "more guns than ammo" category, by a long way. It seems a lot more exciting to buy a nice guy than a box of bullets, but I'm slowly getting with the program now.
