The Short Barrel ammo comes from Speer in their Gold Dot line. The only varience in the Golden Saber ammo is some are bonded and some are not. Based on my testing of the standard pressure 124 grain GS last weekend, I'm not convinced that it's worth the effort or additional cost to chase the bonded version for general defensive purposes.

The short barrel Gold Dots do run about 50 fps faster than the standard gold dots from my PM9. All gold dots are bonded so you will not see a bonded variation on the gold dot. Personally, I wouldn't bother chasing the short barrel version of the GD line because the standard version is cheaper in boxes of 50 and that allows for more practice with carry ammo.

the short barrel GD sure sound sto me like a very good ADD HYPE by speer. 50fps more would not be worth a penneymore than the standard GD defense rounds. Just sayin The corbon dpx round with the barens all copper bullet is pretty hard to beat IMO.. Not cheap, butneither is life.
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

When I said 50fps, I was actually being kind. In my testing, it's about 30 fps faster. In my house, HST rules the roost. I'd use it for everything if I could find sufficient quantities in 9mm, .40, and .45 acp. That said, there's nothing at all bad about Golden Saber or Gold Dot. My preference for HST comes only from slightly faster velocities and the petals don't flatten back as much as the GS. Corbon may also be fantastic, but I've never tested any of it.

Two of my blog entries on 9mm ammo from 3" barrels.

i carry REM GS in my cw45 cm9 and my nano. in my extra mags for each gun i use hornady CD. both work great in my guns. so i figure if i have to reload in self defence if one flavor didn't do the job maybe the other will stop the threat. both are very accurate in all three weapons. and both are the non +p version.
