  • Home defence worked out for this family

Watch this short video on a negative situation turning positive. Click on the squad car for the video. This family is lucky that he got to go to the closet for his weapon or this could have turned out very ugly.

That is sooo true! Are there really any winners in a case like this? Now, this guy will have to live with taking a human life for the rest of his life. But then on the other hand, he may have saved more lifes by eliminating just that one and feel good about it. I think that I would take the later and feel good that I protected me and my family from harm and just eliminated a scumbag from society and kept him from ever hurting anyone again.

i hear ya on that, but thats really not what i mean. im really talking about what you said first, him having to live with taking a life. good or bad guy,its gotta be hard. and his family having to live with what they seen. and also the bg's family, ive got 3 kids a 10yr old boy a 3 yr old boy and a 1yr old girl, that being said if for some terrible reason 1 of my kids went rotten and had some troubles and broke into someones house and got himself killed id be heartbroken... as im sure the bg's family is... like i said NO real winners here...

I disagree with no real winners. The family whose house was broken into are winners. The have their lives and possessions.

The tax payers of the state are winners. They do not have to pay an attorney to represent the scum in court, nor do they have to pay to house and feed him for many years.

The state judicial system is a winner. They do not have to use valuable resources to bring said scum to trial.

The police are winners. A clear cut case in which they do not have to use valuable resources to investigate.

The communtity as a whole is a winner. One less scum amongst their midst to prey upon the innocent and law abiding.

The only losers in this situation is the scum and his family. I do feel for the family as I know somewhat first hand what it is like to have a worthless POS in the family. Thankfully, that POS is in jail awaiting trial that will send him to prison for a minimum of ten years.

Sadly, the taxpayers will foot the bill.

Believe me, when taking a human life means yours, or his, you won't have any problem sleeping.

I agree with having a gun closer than his closet, however in this particular case he woke up with the guy already in his bedroom. You can't really conceal reaching for your gun. So, perhaps we need one next to the bed PLUS one in the closet. I don't really know as then you need one in the bathroom and one in the....

I hope everybody does have solid locks on front and back doors. Even better, in addition get the $14 driveway alarms sold at Harbor freight. You can place the transmitter within 100' of the receiver and it sounds very loudly when someone passes by. I have one concealed on my porch so anybody approaching my front door sounds the alarm.

My house alarm instantly sounds at the outside garage door opening. Then I have the Buddy-Bar wedged against the front door to slow anybody down and my Mossy on a bed hanger.

It gets a little scary either way, shoot or not to shoot. That pharmacist who shot the kid trying to rob his store with a gun is now serving life in prison for murder. And just recently in the news an 80 year old man shot his 26 year old grandson who had just attacked him with a knife and the police had the 80 year old in hand cuffs. So many states do have the "Make my day" rule on the books but that doesn't seem to hold up when they are taken to court.
I keep my 380 under my pillow, the CM9 in the night stand, and my 20 gauge pump behind the bedroom door (which the wife insists on locking at bed time) so I'm sure I'd not hesitate to use either one.
I feel like the lady the highway patrol asked what she was afraid of having 3 handguns in her car: "Not a damn thing".
Hopefully one of these days these idiots will come to the conclusion that when they enter that door (or window) they may be carried out on a stretcher.
