Hi all, I am new to this forum and just came back from the range for the first time with my new PM45. I have to say, I was extremely impressed. I did a lot of research to find the ideal concealed carry handgun with the greatest stopping power, and the Kahr PM45 definitely fits the bill IMO.

I purchased one new about 6 weeks ago and had a trigger reset issue that wouldn't allow the gun to fire. Talk about disappointing! I go to the range with a brand new gun, 200 rounds of Federal FMJ ammo, and a smile from ear to ear. I set the target, loaded the mag, pulled the trigger (which felt very limp) and nothing happened. Then I couldn't even take it apart to try to figure out why the trigger wouldn't reset because you need to activate the trigger to remove the slide. So back to the local gun store it went. 3 weeks later Kahr confirmed there was a problem with the gun and after some pressure from me, the local store agreed to replace it with a brand new one. So 2 weeks later the replacement arrived and today I took it to the range.

150 rounds through it and not a single issue, every round fed properly and only a handful of the ejected rounds hit me in the forehead. I was expecting at least a few FTF issues from what I read on this forum, but not a single one for me. Other than a small abrasion on my thumb from that sharp edge on the frame, and a little soreness of the pad of my little finger from the sharp stippling on the grip, everything was great. I'm shooting a bit low, but I think a couple hundred more rounds and some snap caps will get me used to the long trigger pull and help get the POI up a bit. For such a small frame, the recoil was very manageable. I have to say that love it and have finally found the ideal CCW.

The one thing I don't care for are the stock sights. Can anyone recommend a good replacement set of night sites?

Congrats! I'm of the opinion that when we see pistols that dont reset the trigger - there has to be a bit of polymer flashing getting things screwed up. Its the only explanation I can logically come up with. Obviously - the pistols have been fired when we get them out of the box. Kahr test fires, just like everyone else.

Question - how did they test fire a gun that wont reset its trigger?
Answer - it did reset, but now it doesn't.

The further question is... what happened? Thats the real crux of it....

Certainly the metal parts didn't wear out in shipping. Springs didn't go limp in shipping. Could be some part was really caked with lube, but I tend to dismiss that, as it would take extensive firing and a lot of lube - we don't see that. So the only other thing I can think of is there was a shaving of polymer that decided to let go, or, didn't let go but instead became a hanging chad of sorts... messing up the works.

Either way... whatever way... you're fine now, and folks who didn't get replacements (but instead waited it out) also did fine, as Kahr fixed 'em all up on their nickle.

How's the recoil on it? Sore hands after the 150 rounds? I have a cm9 now and love it..seriously considering stepping up to the pm45.

I put 350 rounds through mine on its maiden voyage with no discomfort. I did put an inner tube on the grip which saved the fingers. Not bad at all

Welcome to the forum, RC'. I bought mine new with NS and DLC finish. The bike tube and using my left thumb to hold my right thumb down and away from the slide lock and mag release work for me. I put the bike tube on all of my polymers, and for sure on the PM45's cheese grater nibs.

Please let me know I live in MN. I currently carry a G30SF it's a great gun I want a Kahr that's just as reliable as my g30. And a little lighter.

Never had any of the problem you mentioned with my PM45 except it managed to get itself stolen. It was a great pistol, but just a bit large for pants pocket carry. It worked well in an inside jacket pocket though. I haven't replaced it with another yet, but would buy a CM45 in a heartbeat.

I have one and once properly prep'ed, lubed, and a few hundred rounds down range you should have no problems. This psitol like most Kahrs are very small, and quite tight when you get them. They are that way by design. This is especially true of their sub compact versions. Small compact & powerfull hand guns tend to get that bad rap mostly from newbe shooters and those that don't read the damn manual. These guns in my honest opion are not for the beginner or novice shooter. Should you go ahead and get one, just read the manual, cleaner her up really good, lube it liberally, then go out and "Shoot it like you stole it" to quote JOCKO. One word of advise... get a grip on that puppy, cause you ain't shootin a target pistol and that stiff slide needs something solid to push against. The recoil is not bad at all just sorta like a good shove. Have fun!

nikon: To answer your question, the recoil is very manageable. I have a larger S&W .40 that has about the same recoil, but wanted something more concealable. The PM45 is just what I wanted. It is too big for most front pant pockets, but the PJ IWB Kydex holster is the perfect companion.

Good to hear, my dad has the CW40 and the recoil sucks..but 40's typically kick a little harder than 45's.

One more question, I currently carry my cm9 in a crossbreed minislide which lists all pm's cm's fitting. Does the pm45 fit in the same holster? It looks pretty similar except for the top of the slide which is more rounded than my 9.

how do we know thet it did fire or they even do test them all??
its not hard to include a piece of expended brass and say its from said gun. WE DOND KNOW ANYTHING...

I would not think kahr would pull that kind of stuff.If u wanna doubt them, that is fine but I totally disagree. Just sayin
