Best PM9 Range ammo?

I recently purchased a PM9. I have put 250 rounds through it. Initially, it failed to eject the casings frequently during the first 200 rounds. During the last 50 rounds, it did not jam as it did before, but I had one failure to feed. I'm hoping that my PM9 is getting broken in, and will perform without any further problems the next time that I take it to the range.

I used Winchester 115 gr FMJ and Remington 115 gr UMC. Could that ammo have caused the problems that I experienced? What is the best range and defense ammo to use in the PM9? Thanks in advance for your input.

When I owned a CM9 WWB worked ok. Try 124 grain ammo. I own a Beretta Nano and 124 grain has been 100%.

Winchester 124 grain NATO by the case is around .25 a round and it is about 10% hotter than standard loads.

If you are having FTF issues I would look at the magazine.

For range ammo I swear by PMC, 115 gr. for both my P380 and PM9. Never had a problem feeding or ejecting and they just seem more accurate or at least statistically more homogenous.

I have a CM9, M&P9 FS, and M&P9c. For practice, I shoot WWB, Remington, and Federal FMJ. I buy whatever I can get the cheapest. They all work pretty well. I've had a couple of deformed brass and a couple of "soft" loads that didn't eject, but for practice they are all OK.

I have over 700 rounds of the wwb through my pm 9 without any issues feeding,firing or ejecting. You will find a lot of different opinions about best carry ammo but I have run over a hundred trouble free rounds of hornady critical defense through mine and is my carry ammo. Somewhere on this forum someone tested a variety of ammo and posted some very good information about it, so if you can find that it may help you decide. Mine eats just about everything - I use Federal red box mostly - but I have used Geco (nice stuff) Speer lawman (okay) S&B (worked just fine) and Fiocchi - worked good too. Mostly your problems were in the breaking in time - so it should settle out wit ha few more rounds - Keep it clean and lubed - especially at first. The PM9 is the worls best pocket gun!

Ibuy wal mrt 100 pak wwb for alittle over 20 bucks and it goes bang every time. neve rhas failed. For range fodder, if it goes bang and is low in price I b uy it, no preference, other than I try to stay with american made ammo. I recentley ught some TUL steelcased berden primed 9mm at wal mart for around 9 bucks and I have foundit to be not to good of ammo for my K9... YMMV

Due to the fact that I bought several thousand rounds of the Win. 124 gr. NATO spec ammo (Q4318) a few years back and still have a quantity left; it is my go to factory range ammo.

I like the little extra power that it affords, approx. 10% more than industry standards according to the box. IMO, it helps eliminate the possibility of a malfunction due to weak or under powered ammo.

I used 100 rds. As the very first ammo that I ran thru my PM9 and the little pistol performed 100% with it.

Out to 25 yds. it is POA/POI thru my PM9.

Some shooters refuse to pay the little extra for this ammo and have had good results with lesser priced stuff. I rarely allow the cost of ammo to influence my decision to buy or not.

As I understand it, Kahr uses 124 grain ammo for test firing all of their 9mm guns. I bought some 124 grain FMJ ammo from USAAmmo and found it to have almost as much kick as the Spear Gold Dot 124 grain +p HP ammo that I use for carry. Not as pleasant to shoot 50+ rounds with it, while the 115 grain ammo is pleasant to shoot all day long.

For the range I use the cheapest ammo I can find, but I don't use steel-cased stuff. Brass is "soft" and doesn't cause premature wear on your pistol.

When I say cheapest, I mean that I buy in bulk when I find good prices and deals online that give me the lowest price per round delivered to the door... tax-free.

For 9mm, I prefer 124-gr, but at SD ranges the 115-gr is fine and I want it at less than $10 a box of 50 delivered.

I have bought U.S.-made, brass-cased 230-gr .45 FMJ ammo for as little as $14 a box of 50, delivered, no tax. I get email from all of the sites I'm interested in and sometimes there are bargains, but you have to be ready to pounce.

Cabela's has sales and coupons and free shipping for purchases of $99 to $150 orders and when the conditions are right... price, little or no shipping costs, and no tax... some real good deals can be had.

I prefer Remington UMC because it's cleaner. Winchester white box is too dirty. Federal and Sellier & Bellot are dirty and feel underpowered.

Remington, I sure can't tell that difference, but what ever is the cheapest and american madeis usualy what I look for. My local walmart stocks WWB over all other brands.. coursenow they have nuttin.

my new CM9 is not here yet, but my first I used WWB without serious issues. My first 3 mags failed to lock back on the last round, but after that things got smoothed out and everything ran fine for the rest of the time I owned the pistol.
