  • PM vs CM List of Differences

What are the differences in these guns aside from price?

There's several posts around discussing this, search for em.

EDIT: Sorry, i was on a cell phone earlier when i posted that, so i was trying to be short n sweet, but after i read it again now, it came across kind of short. Didnt mean it that way at all, but there are lots of post concerning the differences in the two, and lots of comments from people who have one or the other, or both (lucky f*****s)

Found this pic that gives the differences pretty simply for ya, to make up for sounding rude

PM9 has a polygonal rifling barrel the CM9 has a conventional rifling barrel. This is suppose to make the PM9 more accurate. The PM9 has a dove tail front sight and a little nicer etching on the PM9 slide.

I probably would still have my Kahr had it been a PM9 rather than the CM9. The front night pin sight on the CM9 kept breaking off.

I could be wrong but I thought the idea behind the polygonal rifling was more velocity from the 3inch barrel.

The real thing that would realistically set the CM and PM apart for me would be the smooth lines of the PM9, but that isn't worth an extra 250 bucks for me.

They perform pretty much the same since the external dimensions are the same. For me, since it's just a CC handgun, the CM9 was the perfect option for me. It has been flawless since day 1 and I absolutely trust my life on it. I'm sure many people would say the same about their PM9s, so the choice is up to you really.

The big difference for me was the PM9 is California legal. Tried to get a cm9 but not available here in California.

The poly rifled barrels aren't any more accurate that the std rifled barrels, but the poly barrels give you a bit more velocity and are somewhat easier to clean. If you shoot lead go for the std. rifling.

IMO two exact PM9's out of the box will chrono differently even though both barrels are polygonal. We have seen cw tests on this forum that chrono'ed more than the Polygonal barrels, so althughg it is supposed to be a more premium barrel, I really can't prove it from my end. other than reading posts on this forum and others.. I would not plop fown muych extra in bucks to have the polygonal barrel: Just sayin. guaratnee u both barrels will shoot better than the guy behind the gun can ever do Woth todays more modern and cleaner buring ammo and copper bullets more common than ever, I see no differenc ein the cleaning of either barrels.
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

I thought it wasn't possible to swap barrels between the 2 because the internals are different. Does anyone know if that is true? If so, how are they different?

what kahrs are u talking about ?/ U can swap barrels between a cm9 and a PM9, u can put in a cw9 barrel in a PM or cm9 kahr but not vice versa

Well that's from Kahr, but I have also read on other forums that people have tried and it will not work.

                          Can't speak from experience though.

neither can I, the cm barrel is 3.5" the cm barrel is 3.1. but the barrel lug is the same length and what ever sticks out the front of the barrel in the kahrs to me knowledte has no bearing on the workings of the gun. Kahrs ported barrels stick out beyond the slide front. One can ask kahr if the cm and pm barrles will interchange and they willsay no BUT THEY CERTAINLYT DO. there is even a video showing that.

Not wanting to create an argument either as it means nadda to me but I would "bet" that a cw9 barrel will work in a cm or pm9 kahr but not vice versa due to the cm and pm9 barrel being much shorter than the cw slide. again asking kahr willget u a no every time. Internally all kahrs are the same. I am referring to polymer kahrs and not steel kahrs...

Hmmm.... gotta find that out.... a cw barrel with a port, dropped into a cm would be sweet!
