  • Herter's TNJ

Cabela's are advertising aluminum case 9mm ammo with bullets coated with a total nylon jacket (TNJ).
Anybody here tried these in a PM9? I understand that copper is preferred, but what about these?

Bought a box recently and put 50 rounds of Herter's TNJ thru my CM9. No problems whatsoever. Next time I visit Cabela's will probably pickup another box or two.

Anyone else have experience with the Herters/CCI TNJ (Total Nylon Jacket)?

Over the weekend I put 50 rounds of this ammo through my PM9 and it worked without a hitch.

I'll buy some of that stuff when the price gets near what I want to pay... including shipping and all. I have been watching the prices, but for FMJ range fodder it has been too high... for me!

Good to hear. I was reluctant to put it through the Springfield XDm9 b/c it didn't like it the first time through. That gun has been finicky to say the least.

Check to see if there is any coating applied to the casings themselves. I see a lot of coated steel cased ammo creating a buildup in the chamber after repeated rounds without a good solid cleaning. In some guns this can create feeding and extracting issues.

The cases should be like the Aluminum Blazer ammo and the bullets are totally encased in nylon... kind of slicker and softer than metal, so cheaper and easier on your barrel and chambering.

Yep. Alum case and nylon jacket.

$13.99 for 50 isn't enough of a discount to get me to buy more but wanted to be sure before I shot what I have.

Even with their current $20 off orders of $150 or more or $5 shipping on orders over $99, wasn't enough. I want low prices, too. The .45 was $21.99, I think!

I'm looking for 9mm less than or close to $10 a box of 50... case prices and $15 for .45... delivered. Those are the most recent deals I got... of course, fat chance on finding that now!

I've used it extensively in my CM9, probably over 200 rounds. I've got another couple hundred rounds stockpiled that i picked up from cabelas for $10.99/box before SHTF. The cabelas near me had probably 20,000 rounds or more of it, but they were completely cleaned out when i was there last weekend.

I'd be a bit cautious about using poly bullets in a PM9 with polygonal rifling. Kahr cautions against using cast lead bullets in a PM9 and lead is harder than the poly coating on these bullets. You might want to contact the tech people before you use them. Better safe than sorry.
