  • New PM9 Range Report (Updated)

Just finished putting the first 300 rounds through my new PM9. Here are the results:

100 Rds Blazer Brass 115 gr FMJ - No malfunctions
100 rds Remington UMC 115 gr MC - No malfunctions
50 rds Speer Lawman 115 gr TMJ - No Malfunctions
50 rds Federal Champion 115 gr FMJ - No malfunctions

The gun performed flawless its first time out and accuracy was decent. The trigger was a little rough to start but was very smooth by the end of the session. I used 2 - 6 round mags that I kept from my CM9, I did not use the 7 round mag. Interestingly, while those 2 mags dropped free in the CM9 (they were squeezed near the feed lips and polished to accomplish this), they do not drop free in the PM9. Last night during my prep, one was dropping free and the other was not, but today neither did. Not sure why. Any suggestions on that? If I can't remedy that this weekend I will call Kahr Monday about it. I am going to ask them if they will exchange the 7 round mag for a flush 6 rounder anyway.

Count me as another satisfied PM owner. Here are some pictures of the new addition...

I ust bought a week ago a 9 year old pm9 BLUNT NOSE WITH TWO MAGS USED. SUPER GUN. nOW i HAVE two pM9's.

My original carry PM9 none of my mags drop free, and I do like that to be honest but this used one both of the mags that came with it drop free, so taking my mages out of my original and trying them in this used gun. they do not drop and now taking the mags out of the used gun I just bought and trying them i my origial PM9, they do drop.

So IMO it is mags, not the gun itself.

lastcouple of years the front of ur cm9 and pm9 and cm40 and pm40 have anow beleled front end onthem, where as whatI callthe bluntnose is like the tyical glock front slides.

The newer models are .020 longer

some one has photos, I am not good at doing that stuff..

Could be a little mold flashing in the mag well. Someone recommended attaching some fine grade sand paper to a mag using double sided tape and pushing it in and out a few times, checking with another mag frequently to see if it drops free.
          Very interesting...

Hmmm. I will give that a try right now.

It didn't work. There wasn't enough clearance to load the mag with the sandpaper on. These mags seem to fit really tight. I tried the 7 rounder too, and not only does it not drop free, but it takes quite a bit of effort just to pull it out. Also, the follower on one of the 6 round mags is broke. This had to happen today because I just disassembled and cleaned both 6 rounders last night and the piece that broke off was inside the mag. I took a picture of the follower (sorry about the quality, my phone sucks). I guess my first range trip wasn't problem free

I'm wondering if there isn't something out of spec inside the mag well that caused the follower to break and the mags to be so tight. I had no problems with feeding and the follower moved without resistance when I reassembled the mags. Not sure on this. The gun shot great though, so at least that is a plus. I am going to go clean her up and see if i can't get some more insight on this.

So it appears that there may be a few things that could be causing this. Magazine 1 (6 round) drops free with the slide forward, but not locked back. Magazine 2 (6 round) does not drop free with the slide forward or locked back (this is the one with broken follower), and magazine 3 (7 round) does not drop free with slide forward or locked back and is extremely difficult to remove (you really have to pull pretty hard). As to why the mags dont drop free, I am guessing interference with the mag catch and or slide lock. That may be the same cause for the broken follower, or it could also be contacting the feed ramp after the last round is fired since only the front skirt broke off. I think I am going to send it in and let Kahr figure this one out, assuming they agree.

PBJ -- sorry to hear of your troubles! I've got my money on Kahr customer service making it right for you!

Did you consider putting some kind of washable ink on the mag? Insert it, then remove it? Check it to see where the ink has been rubbed off? Check the mag well for signs of ink, too?

I took some better pictures and also noticed what looks like some polymer flaking off inside the frame above the trigger.

it could be, no issue there, if the frame is a tad what I call out of spec or maybe warped a tad where it is not perfectl straight or in the final maching process they left some slivers on the frame, the slide will smooth those slivers, high spots or what ever right off in a few hundred rounds. Now I have seen some slides where an onwer just forced on improperly his slide and actully cut into the polymer rails. It is so evident to,. Common sense comes into play here to m mY PM9 rails are absolutley perfect after 32K rounds and at least over 300 times on and off, because I am careful. ur photos are not good enough too give a real opinion but I can tell u what kahr is gonna tell u but if u are concerned then you will have to call kahr and hear it from them.
