  • New PM9 Failure to feed

I just got a pm9, brand new. I did all the break in required. Took it apart, cleaned it, loobed it, took apart the mags, racked it well over the amount asked for. Took it to the range with 200 rounds of 115 grain winchester white box and was prepared for a few ftf or hiccups. What I got was, with both the 6 rd and 7 rd. mags, about 2 ftf situations per loaded mag. I think I went thru 3 full mags without a ftf.
I did have my husband with me and he duplicated the ftf issues as well. The first round fired would be fine, charging from the slide release, however, the 2nd cartridge would get caught up and get jammed on the feed ramp with the round pointing slightly downward. That 2nd round would fire, then the 3rd or 4th would have the same issue.
I will be making a call to Kahr tomorrow. Anyone else with similar issues?

Update, made sure magazine springs were in correctly before we hit the range. Just tried seeing if the follower was hitting the mag release, and sure enough it was on both mags.

Just a little filing on those followers will fix that and save the hassle of sending it back.
      Very interesting...

        Will that void the warranty?

the followers in the magazine void the warranty? No not at all... besides you can always just buy more followers.
Focus on your front sight..... The rest should be blurry!

Post #2 in this thread describes some modifications you can do to the followers if they're rubbing on the magazine catch:

Thanks for the help. I don't feel comfortable taking things apart and grinding away. I called Kahr this morning and the guy I spoke to asked me what the gun was doing. I told him and he said he would send out a return auth today via e-mail. He did, I boxed it up, brought it to my FFL dealer in town and it will be shipped tomorrow. Kahr was very easy to talk to. My hopes are high. We will see if they pull through.

Your decision to have Kahr look at your PM9 was the correct one rather than try to fix whatever is wrong with a new pistol.
There is no need when they offer a sufficient warranty and it should have been right straight out of the box.
Nice that they offered to pick up the shipping back, as they should.
                Good luck.

Hope you have better luck that I did. I'm having a similar issue. All they did was polish my feed ramp.

. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

I'm having the same problem with my recently purchased PM9. 350+ rounds through the gun. I found that I have the problem with Winchester 115Gr white box, but no problems with the Walmart Federal or 9BP. The Federal stuff has a substantially shorter bullet, so I'm thinking that has alot to do with the problem. Going to take it to the range within the next few days and shoot Federal exclusively and see what happens.

wiw if it won't feed wwbh 115 fmj, then something is wrong. it is goodammo and certany not gun sensitive. I know ur feed ramp looks great buthow about givbing it a good polishing to see if that changes anything. It shold feed wwb 115 blindfolded.
Is ur feed proboems at any time in the magazine ort like maybe round 2/3. Have u checked to see if by chance yourmagazine followers are grabbing the mag release butyton. There is a thead on that in the kahr tech section under propper prepping of ur kahr. takes 5 minuts to check out to.

Do the follower mod that takes under two minutes using some 600 grit wet of dry wrapped around a pencil. I did about half of what was suggested and it worked like a charm for me. ALL my loads function. Try it on one mag and you will get a quick comparison.

Thanks guys. Checked my followers and it looks like the mag release is making contact with 'em. Gonna try modifying one of the followers and see how it goes.
