Stiff slide on CM9

Just did the prep as suggested on this forum, lubricated all 10 areas as indicated also, and fired 200 rounds to break in at the range. Came back stripped, cleaned and relubed my CM9 and slide/spring is still stiff. Does this get better with time or this this something that i am going to have to put up with?

On the bright side the gun performed like a champion at the range. At first the bullets were all over the paper but by rounds 150 to 200 the gun really zeroed in on the target. Not a single failure!

Congrats on your new gun and glad to hear it shot well for you. I have a pm9 and now over 2000 rounds through it. The slide does get "some easier" after awhile but from my experience will not ever get as "easy" as my Glock. There are a lot of other guys on this forum that have been around a lot longer than me and have more experience so don't take this as the final word. Happy shooting !!

I also have the CM9 and have just over 400 rounds threw it. The slide seems a little easier but not much. I think that it will always be stiffer than what I am accustom too. Maybe I am getting stronger? LOL I will say that after a few rounds I could slingshot it. It is no where as easy as my SIGs or my 32 year old Taurus PT99. (Only about 200 rounds threw the Taurus) Once I bought the CM9 I cleaned lubed it and shot it with not one problem to date. I did not rack the slide 500 times as I have read, nor did I lock the slide back for a few days as I have also read some do. Not saying that should not be done, just saying it was not for me. Different strokes for different folks, as they say. Every pistol I have have fired ate everything I fed it, except the Taurus! The Taurus will not always fire Blazer aluminum...(No more Blazers here) Love the CM9 it is my CCW but in the winter might go back to the SIG sc... 12 + 1 little better than the 6 + 1... Hope to never need either..

I got my PM9 well used, stiff spring. Not much metal to add weight to counter the recoil forces. Therefore... the wee tiny bit of a spring has got to be stiffer than most.

As they said it will always be somewhat stiff - one of the joys of a small pistol that runs reliably. I ended up having to buy Vickie a, gasp, Keltec to get a pocket gun she could rack consistently.

Oh, no! I would have recommended the Taurus TCP. Fairly easy to rack. Much thinner with a slide stop lever that just sticks out 1/8", yet works well and locks back after last round. A light, smooth trigger almost equal to the Kahr. A lifetime warranty. Far superior in quality than the Keltec. Not as unpleasant to shoot as the Keltec or LCP. In fact, I will still advise you to get a TCP for her. Not the modern definition of a Saturday Night Special that the Keltec is!

I am having the same experience with the tight slide. I received my CM9 on Friday and was very surprised on how tight the slide was compared to my LC9 and G19. After the 200 round break in at the range today and thorough cleaning, the slide is easier but still tight. It wont present any problems just something you need to keep in mind. Can't wait for the second magazine. 200 rounds with one 6 capacity magazine was interesting.

Klottja, we got our handguns the same day. I got mine last Friday also and shot my 200 rounds the following day. You are right it was something else shooting 200 rounds with one 6 round mag. I ordered a 6 and a 7 round clip as soon as I got back from the range. Also ordered the Pierce Grip extension just for kicks. Looking for a good holster now. I got a Blackhawk pocket holster for the meantime that I picked up for like $10 bucks but I want a good wallet style pocket holster. Will probably call Uncle George to see if he has any available. This guy is out of Austin Texas and he makes good pocket holsters at a decent price. Check them out if you are looking for a pocket holster.

I'm afraid I'm prejudiced. Years ago I had a 24/7 45 that ran okay. On the basis of that gun I bought a Millennium Pro compact 45 and a PT709 Slim. Neither would work at all and after eight weeks in Miami, still didn't work. I sold all three and said never again. There is an upside to the story. The replacement for the 709 Slim was my first Kahr, a CW9.

Yeah, I've heard horror stories about the long waits and no fixes on multiple trips from their CS, and that the Millennium series are junk. I'm really liking this little TCP, though. The P3AT was out because of no slide stop lever, and neither it or the LCP will lock back after last round. The P380 is more money than I want to spend on a 380 BUG. So that left the TCP. It has turned out to be a really likeable gun. And for what I put into it, I'm tickled pink. My gunsmith polished the feed ramp, cleaned it lubed it up and test fired it to verify reliable feed and function (just charges me $30! ). He mentioned what a nice trigger it has - lighter than the Kahr and almost as smooth. It has a very light stage point near the end of travel, so I can take up the slack, refine my aim, then fire. Sweet! And something about the angle and shape of the grip makes it a natural point -n-shooter. So at SD distance, I don't need any stinkin' sights...which is good because it has tiny blued sights that are part of the slide and are useless except in bright sunshine.
