My only issue with my CM9 is the mag release button and release itself. During my initial break-in 200 round shootout I found the mag release button to be quite difficult. I really had to press down hard so that the mag could release. Also, when it did release it did not slide or drop down like a heavier mag does. I literally had to help it down as it seemed like it was snug in between the grip walls. Is this normal?

Yep! Kahr's take on the magazine is that it should not drop free, but many do. This is a frequent question. Here is a recent thread with the usual comments and possible solutions: http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t...+magazine+drop (Corrected link 8/4/2012)Last edited by TucsonMTB; 08-04-2012, 10:44 AM.It would be so nice if something made sense for a change.

Uhm . . . my bad . . . check out this thread: http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t...+magazine+drop
Kahr doesn't think they should drop free, but lots of other people do and the thread describes their efforts (mostly successful) to make them drop free.
Most probably drop free right out of the box. All three of the Kahrs I have purchased new did.It would be so nice if something made sense for a change.

My mk9 & mk40 mags shoot out when empty with the slide closed. With the slides open they still more that fall out but with not quite as much vigor as when the slides are closed. So if Kahr doesn't want them to fall freely then both of my Kahrs are defective. By the way my Kimber & p238's are pretty much the same.

Probably not . . . The manual says, "Remove the empty magazine by pushing the magazine catch on the front of the left grip and pulling the magazine from the magazine well." As I understand it, Kahr CS has told people this means the magazines will not necessarily drop free.Originally posted by kerby9mm View PostSo if Kahr doesn't want them to fall freely then both of my Kahrs are defective.
Remember that these are the same people who expect you to load the first round by locking back the slide and using the slide release . . . oh well.
Now stop whining and go shoot your pistol.
It would be so nice if something made sense for a change.
