  • Concealed Carry Holster CM9

Looking for some advise on some good COMFORTABLE carry holsters for my CM9. I have an autoimmune disease that affects my back and hips so comfort will be important for me. Just got my CCW and looking to start carrying. Any recommendations are appreciated. Looking for multiple carry options so any opinions are appreciated.

not sure if it would work for you, but I (and a lot of others here on the forum) really like the pjholster. He offers it in just about any option you want, and will work with you to make it as custom as you want/need. So check them out at pjholster.com

I use an in-the-waistband PJ holster. The holster is thin kydex, so adds very little weight or thickness to the gun. But without knowing more about what limitations your illness imposes, it's hard to know what to advise.

For me the most comfortable way to carry is OWB. I have a pancake holster that I wear at the 3 o'clock position with my cm9. The pancake holster pulls the gun tight to the body with a good solid gun belt. Obviously, wearing OWB only works if you are wearing a less than tight fitting shirt that is not tucked in.

Not sure how you normally dress, but a pocket holster may also be an option if you have large enough pockets. Harder to get at if you need the gun, but very comfortable.

I agree with OWB tight to the side, slight forward cant. I use a Desantis OWB concealment belt holster. It is thin yet rigid enough to keep the gun in place. It works great for my heavier mk9 & mk40.

As short as that gun is you could use a good pancake owb and have only 2 inches of leather below belt.

Thanks for the info, I will look into those. I do have an OWB mini scabbord from Desantis that I do like a lot. Does anyone have an experience with ankle holsters?

I agree that your probably best off with a OWB, just more comfortable, don't have to wear your belt so tight which can easily aggravate your condition or anyone with back issue.

I'd also look at my favorite the Mernickle PS6. That is what I carry my full size and commander size 1911's in and there is less than an inch below the belt, rides very high and tight into your side.

I wear an ankle rig every single day (don't let this information out, it's a secret) with a PM45 in it, used to be a K40 and before that and sometimes mixed in an officers size 1911.

I'm probably not a good example on that as I sit in a wheelchair and only use my legs to hang stuff on, don't have to deal with walking or running or any of the stuff you vertical folks have to suffer thru although I'd like to try that stuff again some day.

The Kahr shop sells ankle rigs, that's where I got the one to accomodate the CT Laser on the PM45. Before that I used a Galco, they are both very similar, cost considerable but well made and worth it at least to me.

Welcome to the forum! And welcome to the CM9 Owners Club! Our official symbol is the wide grin smily because we are so happy with our purchase that we can't wipe the smile off our faces!

                      Here is your club badge.

+1 on PH Holsters! Paul is a great guy who will work with you on something. My CM9 sits in This Holster at about 8:00 (lefty) and it is so completely comfortable that I can't feel the gun or holster there at all, I have to reach back there and touch the gun to confirm that it's still there - no kidding! All day long! I don't use one of those expensive 1/4" thick double layer gun belts. I find them too stiff and not too comfortable. I use This Belt and I don't have to tighten or loosen it when I wear the CM9/PJ Holster. I love that belt with it's roller buckle and I wear it all the time anyway.

Paul also makes OWB holsters and a high rise pancake. He can work with you on Appendix (AIWB) carry, too. You need zero or (my preference) even a negative cant for Appendix carry. I also like a low ride so that the grip lays down just above my belt. I like AIWB carry because it is just as easy to draw when seated or even buckled in a car seat. Put a cell phone in a case on your belt immediately behind the grip of your gun and wear any untucked shirt, even a colored T-shirt. That way, the only thing that prints is the cell phone.

Some people pocket carry the CM9. I recommend the Stays-Put Ultra pocket holster. Just $14.95 shipped! Good quality. Disguises the gun well. Stays put better than any pocket holster I have ever seen. And I have discovered that it will stay put all day long in the AIWB position and be 100% comfortable! Talk about convenient! Just slide the gun in the holster, slide it inside your waistband at about 1:30-2:00 (L: 10:00-10:30), down low with a reverse cant, and you are good to go all day. No need to adjust it because it stays put!

Good luck with your holster selection!
                      Very interesting...

I'm very partial to the Garret Silent Thunder IWB. It is a single belt clip that is quick, simple and plain easy to stuff in your waist band on the way out the door. It is leather lined Kydex to preserve the gun finish and has adjustable cant and height.

If you are considering a ankle holster, then look at the alessi ankle holster. I have two and they work and look great.

My prefered method of carry is AIWB. I use both the Mitch Roisen Clipper and the PJ holsters for my PM9 and K9. I occasionally carry my PM9 in a DeSantis Nemisis or Super Fly pocket holster. When deep concealment is absolutly necessary, I use a Smart Carry holster which is very comfortable for me. I just picked up my new MK40 last Tuesday that had been on order for three weeks. I plan to carry it both AWIB and in a Smart Carry.

I have a SmartCarry, too. Never use it 'cause I wear jeans all the time and they tend to be not too roomy, so the CM9 prints a bit. (Is that a gun in your pants, or are you just glad to see me? ) I think the TCP would disappear down there, though. I usually wear my belt pretty snug, so I would opt for suspenders and no belt to make it easier to draw from the SmartCarry.
