  • K9 v PM9 v CM9

So I have a K9 and like it but am considering a PM9/CM9 for the more compact carry package.

How does the PM/CM9 compare to the K9 as far as recoil and overall handling?

And why would I go with a CM over the PM?

Would like to add an XS BigDot to the pistol.

Danger, Will Robinson! Currently, there is NO XS Big Dot sight available for the the CM.
It would be so nice if something made sense for a change.

well i have the k9 and cm9 and cw9... on my cm9 i have the pearce grip extension so i am biased but here goes...

      i love the cm9 > k9 > cw9

recoil in 9mm is not a big deal imo... so i think in the cm9 its easy as cake with pearce grip... the k9 is just too ez and the muzzle flip in the cm9 is fun for me...

recoil while nothing to me in the cm9 but it is much greater than the k9...

in terms of look, the cm9 looks the best out of all 3 kahrs i own... imo

So if I want the BigDot then I have to go PM9.

So tell me how that compares.

also... the steel rail in the cm9 is better designed than the cw9... the cm9 is just a great great design... kahr was extremely hard working in this design i can tell because it is a very smart design that inspires lots of confidence... the cw9 is too but not as good as the cm9... just nit picky differences that is more cosmetic than functional but i have to say the cm9 is the last gun i will ever consider pawning if my life depended on it

also... i would highly recommend the crimson laser guard for your kahr if you feel the sights are inadequate... nothing beats laser if ur sight is compromised in anyway

there's also the cheaper armalaser too in addition crimson... both have great reviews from what i read...

think that is correct. U can put the big dots on the k9 SERIES. The very early versions had a different size dovetail but on te bottom opf ur k9 slide slide if u see a dimple punched in towards the front portion of the slide , u have the new slide version which will accept any sight the PM or any orhter kahr takes.

Kasr can install them or Big Dot also, I would advise letting kahr do it as u can just send the slide to them and get it done properly. Sometimes these kahrs sights just don't want to come off without a good sight pusher. IMO error on the side of caution,. U can ust send the sldie to them regular postalmail to, so the cost is minimual..
somewhere on the kahr webb sight, there is a photo showing the bottom of the slide showing where to see that dimple, but it is obvious if u have it on urs to..
Big dots are nice sights, certainly not target sights but a great fast acquisistion sight.. Just sayin
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

You could have a dovetail cut into the CM9. I am having one of mine done as well as coated and dehorned. The final cost was still less than the PM9 with DLC and Big Dots.

Yes. It has a front dovetail cut in the slide. The CW/CM series guns have plastic front sights that are pinned in place. XS is currently testing a Big Dot front sight for the CW/CM series Kahrs, but it will be a few months before it is available to buy.

The PM9 is the original. The CM9 is the same gun with some external, cosmetic changes, no dovetail for the front sight and a normally rifled barrel to make it more afordable.
                  Very interesting...

last time i checked the pm9 is nearly double the price of the cm9... i thought the pm9 was less attractive compared to the cm9... sorry just a stupid opinion that's all... so i decided to go the cheaper route of a cm9... the best gun purchase i have ever made... can't believe i put it off for so long and after so many other pistol purchases...
