  • New CM or used PM???

I have decide that a Kahr CM9/PM9 is going to be my new daily CW.
Now, I can get a NEW CM9 for $390 at my LGS.
There is also a USED PM9 w/ black slide for $550.00.

What do you Kahristi think is the better buy?

This will be a daily pocket/tucked IWB carry gun. I typically buy guns and keep them. I plan to shoot Winchester RA9TA +P+ DA. WWW and Blazer for practice and fun shooting.

After all of my reading posts here and elsewhere, I cannot tell if the PM is really worth any significant premium over the CM for a shooter. Yes it is prettier and has some nicer features, but I cannot determine that any of that makes it a better carry gun for 20-39' distances.
    Opinions/advice appreciated.

go with the new cm9. You will have a warranty (just in case) and it runs just as great as the pm9.

Forgot about the warranty. That is a good point as the warranty is not transferable. That is worth buying a new on I suppose.

two gun blunt nose PM9 owner IMO the finest gun kahr ever made,I would still tell u to BUY THE cm9.

actually we have only two membersof the PMJ blunt nose club, and I knda like to keep it small. Just sayiin
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

If you do any reloading with cast lead bullets definitely go with the CM9. It has conventional rifling. Only jacketed bullets should be used in the polygonal barrel of the PM9.

Thanks for the replies guys. It looks like a consensus for sure. I will take my new CM9 home this afternoon if all goes well.

My next post will be "what is the best holster"? I don't think that topic has ever been tackled.

I'd also go with the CM9, very happy with mine. The price for the used PM9 is too high. You could buy a new one for $600 via internet. And the black slide on the 2nd hand gun makes it look like every other gun.

I would look at the sights on both guns. If the PM9 has night sights and two mags it may be a better value. As to the polygonal rifling, the accuracy issue is probably a moot point but it will be easier to clean. It will also shoot jacketed as well as plated bullets with no issues whatsoever. My co-worker at our range handloads only hand cast lead bullets through his PM9 and has never had any accuracy or cleaning issues at all. Just clean it after every range session if you shoot lead.
Either way, welcome to the Kahr family. Let us know what you decide.
                    Sorry to confuse you.

Check out Bear Creek Holsters. Doug makes some great holsters in cowhide, horsehide, shark, gator, etc, and his prices are as good as it gets.

Mine is a front pocket in horsehide molded for the crimson trace laser.

I faced a similar decision when I bought my CM9. The gun shop had a used PM9, and the owner was pushing me toward that pistol.

I tend to buy new, if possible, and opted for the CM9. At the time, Kahr had a promotion that allowed the buyer to send for a free 7 round magazine. I had a few problems, initially, with that mag. But after a few sessions the problems disappeared. I also ordered three other 6 round magazines, and all have been perfect.

I do not regret my decision, and my CM9 has become my preferred daily carry pistol.

There are a bunch of us that will tell you that this PJ IWB Over the Belt Clip Holster with an FBI cant works absolutely perfect with the CM9! So thin, comfortable and stable that you can't feel it there in the sweet spot behind your hip at all after a few minutes. The gun does not shift around, so even when moving it is just like part of your body. I literally have to reach back there and touch the gun to be assured it is still there! And Paul is a great guy to do business with!

                          Very interesting...

I will have to cast the only opposing vote on this issue.

I say go for the PM9 as long as you are satisfied with it's condition. Does the used PM9 have NS? If so, that in itself is a plus in my opinion. Does it have more than one mag? The PM9 comes with two, the CM9 with one.

I have a PM9, my one and only Kahr pistol, I wouldn't trade it for a CM9, no way, any day.

When I bought my PM9 the CM9 wasn't yet out. It wouldn't have made any difference, I wanted an all black pistol.

I like the added feathures of the PM9, some don't and choose to settle.

I have no comparative information for you, however I bought a new CM9 for $373 at grabagun.com. Might save you some money. http://grabagun.com/kahr-cm9-9mm-3-msts-poly-1-mag.html
