  • PM9 and Critical Duty Ammo

Took my PM9 to the range today and after warming up with some 115gr ball ammo I tried some Hornady Critical Duty. Shot one box worth and all went smoothly with no failures of any kind. One surprising thing I did notice is that I can slingshot the slide on these rounds whereas with others I have to use the slide release to chamber a round. Accuracy was also excellent.

Always a great idea to run a good but of what you are going to carry.

I don't know how long you have had your PM9, but as it loosens up, you should be able to slingshot with any round. I always slingshot mine.

Thanks. I've been wondering how critical duty would feed in a PM9.

Works like a charm for this guy. {wink} http://mousegunaddict.blogspot.com/2...135-grain.html

I use other stuff in my PM9, but I am running Critical Duty in my PM40. It's the only defense load I've found to be 100% reliable feeding the 6th round.

. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

Thanks for the info. I have been carrying the Critical Duty for a couple weeks now but have not had the chance to actually test it yet in the CM so it's good to hear it feed well in yours.

Did you use the +P load and if so any big difference in the snap?

I read a review between Critical Duty and Crital Defense in either Guns and Ammo or Shooting Times. They said you dont need the extra punch of critical duty unless you are planning to shoot through car doors and windshields. Critical defense will do everything else with ease and less strain on you and your gun. They recommended not to beat up yourself and gun for normal defense needs. However, I know there are a bunch of you out there that think you need the most powerful ammo available or you won't be safe. Critical Duty is for you guys!

Ok, jocko. Here is your club insignia. You need to copy this so you can paste it in welcome posts. You are now the official blunt PMJ9 owner welcomer!
                    Very interesting...

Put a set of bi focals on that and I believe it would be near perfect. Good luck with Jocko posting anything but his wisdom and perfect spelling and punctuation. Can't have everything but he's got most of it.

ditto.... we must have gone to the boytoy store the same day and had the same experience afterwards. I've got it loaded up in both the CM and CW, and like you I haven't put the first round downrange.

                              I get the "hint"

In my case, I carry my SP101 with Hornady 140gr XTP's (1350 mv, 556 fpe) the vast majority of the time. I'll get around to testing some of that 90 cents a round stuff one of these days
