  • Thin pocket holster for CM9

I am getting my first Kahr, a CM9 this week. I have wanted one for a long time, tried pf-9, I have a PPS which is great but too big for pocket, and a P3at.
I ordered a remora OWB camo holster, and I would like a very thin pocket holster.
Anyone use the FIST leather or kydex pocket holster? How much thicker is the leather than the thin kydex? I would like the leather but I don't want it to be too thick to throw in a pocket.
    Thanks
    Mike

You can't go wrong with the Stays-Put Ultra at just $14.95 shipped. As the name implies, it stays put when I draw better than any pocket holster I have ever tried (and I've tried a lot of em). It is thin, made out of a treated microfiber with a smooth nylon liner that makes the draw very smooth. Durable. It even works for me AIWB behind a good belt and.....yes, it stays put there, too!
    Very interesting...

For pocket carry of my PM40 I use a Desantis insider because I like it high in my pocket; so I clip it there. Of course you need a shirt to cover. Have a Remora as well but don't like digging down into my pocket to access. Use a Crossbreed when not in the pocket.

I have a CM9 and three pocket holsters. I have the stays-put, a pj kydex, and a leather one. My favorite is the pj. Just like the way it rides in the pocket. The pistol stays upright. The stays-pt is a nice one too. If price is a consideration, get that one, it's a lot cheaper and works really well. The leather one is nice but kind of big, and until I get it worked in better, a little harder to draw. Hope this helps.
I've lost my memory, and I can't remember where I put it.

Attached are some photos of pocket holsters. The one on top, I made for my wife's Bodyguard 380 after purchasing one for my PM40 (on the bottom) from www.pocketholsters.com for about $60 when I first purchased my PM. I use both pocket holsters occasionally, depending on the situation and what I wear, although I prefer IWB with my Remora (which by the way can also be stuck in the pocket if necessary....but does print). We have Remoras for both handguns. As far as pocket holsters adding thickness to the pocket, with all three layers of leather it adds less than 5/16" thickness. Obviously, with one layer of added thickness being the benefit of the the back leather square to prevent the gun from printing. It looks like a billfold in the pocket. There are some pants I wear that I do not feel either gun in the pocket and some pants that pocket carry can be slightly uncomfortable. But the same is true with IWB. The most comfortable carry being OWB for me, which I do use depending on the situation and what I wear.

You can make a very good, functional, nothing fancy, long wearing leather pocket holster very easily if you have some leather....and you are handy. Save yourself some money and do it yourself. My daughter has a Bodyguard too and I made her a basic (cover the trigger) holster for her purse and one for her husband to carry her Bodyguard in his pocket (at times when she lets it go). It is a nice little 380 to carry. You can buy some nice stiff but thin leather which will work well. With the right leather choice, I'd imagine you could get the thickness down to under 1/4" and still cover the trigger and stop printing. Hope this helps you.

I personally favor DeSantis Nemesis and Super Fly pocket holsters.

Take a look at Sticky Holsters. Same theory as the Remora but a tad thinner.

James Dean makes a very thin leather holster.

Well I'm 11 weeks and counting waiting on the Alabama Pocket Holster. Right now using a cheap Uncle Mikes size 3. Works ok but occasionally in practice I bring it out on the draw with the CM9. The Alabama has a thumb break to spot that and made from Kydex. If it ever shows up I will post pics and a review.....
I just love that new Kahr smell

It's going to be really difficult to find a leather pocket holster that has less bulk than a Kydex equivalent. Fist uses a super thin kydex so that would be my suggestion.

Remora recently introduced a new holster style that replaces their synthetic lining with thin cowhide. It reduces the bulk of their holsters by quite a bit, according to the maker. I have one coming for evaluation so I can't give you any specifications yet.

Almost forgot about the Recluse, which is basically a one sided leather holster. It's odd at first, but once you trust the trigger block it's workable.

I carry my PM9 and P380 in is an uncle mikes and a desantis, basically te same type pocket holster. I like um better than any other leather, kydex,or what ever. not a fast draw holster kbut in jerans not sure any holster is a fast draw either. That rerally never bothers me either. As long as it is on me 24/7 then Iam cool with what I need to do if a shtf situation occurs. Just not sure that extra second is that important..
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

I like my sticky holster and I have used it IWB and pocket. I may also try a Stays-Put Ultra since they are so cheap, but I assumed that Sticky would be better for SOB IWB carry, as Sticky advertises this use and Stays-Put does not.

Well, neither Desantis or Unkle Mike's advertise IWB carry, but they both work pretty well AIWB. All of these holsters are designed on the outside to stick to the inside of the pocket. When put inside your waistband under belt tension, that sticky design really locks in place. I have tried all four of these holsters, and I have found the Stays-Put Ultra superior in comfort, concealability (not too thick) and in staying put whether in the pocket or AIWB. I cannot speak about other IWB positions because I haven't tried them.

Good to know. You said you've tried Stick holsters as well? We're they thicker?

Maybe I'll buy a Stays-Put as well and try it. I mean, it's only $14.95 delivered! Did you purchase the "Cargo pocket" option or the original design?
