  • CM9 or CW9

I am looking for a single stack 9mm to use as my EDC. At this point, I am undecided between the CM9 and CW9.

I shot a friend' s CM9 and loved it, but have not found a CW9 yet to shoot. I also believe in practicing with the gun you carry, so go to the range almost weekly.

My question is whether the CM9 and/or the CW9 are sturdy enough to put thousands of rounds through them and still remain reliable, given that it will be my main carry gun.

I currently have a Kel-Tec PF-9, which broke at the 1,500 round mark, and although Kel-Tec fixed it, I can no longer trust it with what could be my life.

I also have a M&Pc, which has 5,000 flawless rounds through it, but want a lighter and thinner single stack for carry.

I would greatly appreciate learning of the experiences of other Forum members.

CM9 is t*ts and then some. Can't imagine a better carry weapon. I think the extra size of the CW9 would make me want to leave home without it.

I've lost my memory, and I can't remember where I put it.

For the answer you need to ask yourself "Self, do I want my pinky on the grip or under it?" For me, I want my pinky ON the grip.

I appreciate your responses, but understand the size difference, my main question relates to durability after a lot of rounds and continued reliability.

Kahr's are like a tank. Or the Energizer bunny. They just keep shooting and shooting.

Kahr recommends changing the recoil spring assembly every 1500 rounds or so, but they will go much longer than that before any problems manifest. Sort of like changing the oil in your car.

Our own resident Kahrtalk example is Jocko, who has a documented 32,000+ rounds through his customized PM9. I think he got tired of counting and quit doing it.

buy the cm9, u will never look back on it. Just sayin. Had it been offered when I bought my PM9, I would have bought the cm9..
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

Thanks, sounds great. By the way, what is the warranty on Kahr guns, can't seem to find it on their website?

I like both. Got the CW9 first and shortly after the CM9. Both shoot about the same for me so practicing with one kinda helps stay in practice with both. The CW is for IWB and CM for pocket for me. If I hadn't been such a tightwad, I'd a bought a P9 and PM9 years ago and saved buying 8 or 9 handguns I bought in search for "perfect" carry gun. As far as durability, I'll be 66 tomorrow and expect both guns will outlast me.

Since I shot a friend's CM9, using both the 6 round and 7 round magazines, and Loved it. Great accuracy and ergonomics, I am thinking that if I bought a CM9, I could pocket carry with the 6 round mag and carry with an IWB holster, using the 7 round mag, when I can untuck my shirt.

Am I correct that the CW9 would not be easy to pocket carry?

i have both. I like the CM to carry, but the CW can be carried too although i wouldn't consider that a pocket pistol. I just got the CM and haven't shot it yet, but my CW is perfect. Love it and has held up well. i have put 150 rds thru it and its just breaking in. I haven't had one FTF.

                            Correct.
The CM9 is much better in that role. I bought the CW9 first. (Great gun, love it, but better for IWB carry IMO)... and the CM9 second, (the very first day they were released for sale) because of how much I liked my CW9. If both were available when I got my first Kahr it would have been the CM9 as it is just a bit more versatile.

Here are mine side by side.

Thanks. That is what I thought. I have actually been carrying my friend's CM9 in a Panther IWB holster with the 7 round mag, just to see if it was comfortable and it seems to work very well.
