I posed this question in my first range report but it's worth it's own thread: Do you carry +1?

Can't really vote in this one but I carry my CW9 +1 with no problems. On the internet, the number of posts do not correlate to actual knowledge.
The notch is supposed to be there as well as the bulge at the front of the frame!

I posted this in the other 7 round mag thread as well.
Here is my "guess" on why some people have a problem:
From what I have read, if you grip too tightly right on the extended 7 round mag, it rocks the mag slightly, making feeding unreliable.
I have been using Kahr K9 7 round mags in the CM9 with success. The 7 round mags from P9, CW9, K9 are slender where the pinky finger touches, unlike the extended mag version for PM9/CM9.
My conjecture is that a slim 7 round mag is less likely to tip with the grip of the hand, then the extended "fat" mag extension designed for the 7 round CM/PM magazine.Dan

could he be talkin about the 7 round mag as being +1??/ indeed one not in the pipe is a rock, nothing more.. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

I always carry +1. Only time I've ever had a problem was either trying to slingshot that first round with a new gun, or "press checking" the round in the chamber. For the first few hundred rounds, the slide release needs to be used to load that first round.
Press checking seems to cause the next round in the magazine to inch forward and can result in a misfeed. But, if you always keep a round in the chamber, there's no need to press check.

I've always interpreted +1 as filling the magazine, loading the chamber, then removing the magazine and replacing the round that just went into the chamber.
That's generally how I carry all that will function reliably in such a fashion.http://bawanna45.wix.com/bawannas-grip-emporium#!

That notch in the rail is supposed to be there
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
--Thomas Jefferson (1764).

My CW40 will shoot all day long from the +1 mag. My CW45 on the other hand would jam (Nosedive mostly) on every round until the last 4 or 3 in the mag. So I sold the CW45 and was going to get a different one, until I heard about the CM45 coming out. I think I'll try that. I wonder if it will work with the 7 round mags? Be a big hanging out the bottom, but would be nice for a spare mag on my belt.Tom

IMO all guns should function loaded as +1. If you are in a shooting situation, fire 4 rounds, and want to go ahead and reload to a full mag instead of shooting until you're dry, you're in a plus 1. IMO all guns should handle that, and I don't believe I've ever handled a gun that wouldn't.

I always carry +1. I wouldn't carry any other way.
I have ran across a couple of individuals who carry by just putting the gun in their waist without a holster. They carry without a round in the chamber to prevent shooting theirselves. My advice to them was to get a holster and carry with one in the chamber. If they ever need their gun they probably won't have time to rack the slide.
