Have you guys, who own the .40, had magazine follower problems or nose dive issues? I found the sticky on how to fix these issues though it just puzzles me a bit that if they are known issues why Kahr is not fixing them with subsequent shipments? Perhaps they are and they may have ironed those problems out with latter serial numbers??? Since all my pistols are .40s now I am leaning more towards that caliber ... but ... I really don't want to get a lemon either. If .40s are more trouble then perhaps I should seriously consider the CM9?

probably thousands of cm40 out there today, very very few have given issues. Those that have, u usually read it on gun forums before anything else. I don't consider it a crap shoot, but if u get a lemon, kahr will make it sweet for u to.

For those of you who have owned / shot both which do you prefer and why? Is the .40 in this smaller CM fame a real handful? I have a G27 and handle it well but have never fired a CM40. These little buggers really attract me.
I think the polymer 40s may well be slower movers.
Recoil is subjective and some are more sensitive to it than others.
I see a lot of used polymer 40s at the LGS.
I personally find the P40 uncomfortable to shoot.
And wouldn't be surprised if others buy one and become unhappy with it after a trip to the range.
My friends PPS 40 is just as unpleasant to me.

I really think these ~17 oz plastic guns are best in 9mm.
Where the K/MK stainless guns are fine in 40.

        Before buying my MK40, I rented a P9, P40 and K40.
I found the P40 was punishing and the P9/K40 fine.
Although I shot the K40 the most accurate.

I always recommend folks rent before they buy.
My experiences for what they are worth...

CM40 all the way!!! I've had mine about a week now and with 250+ rounds through it I couldn't be happier. Pistol has run 100% out of the box with an assortment of FMJ and JHP ammo. It is definately a "grown man's gun" but it is not uncomfortable to shoot. This is my first Kahr pistol and I am very impressed with the quality of the design and build on these little guns.

For me it would be the 40, since they don't have a 45 yet. I have a PM9 but probably should have bought the 40. I've shot a PM40 with no problems. I'd buy a CM75 if they made one.

Well I'm going to have to agree with Barth on this one and advise anyone not sure of 9mm or .40 in CM/PM pistols to definitely RENT one of each before buying and wishing otherwise...

I'm not that recoil sensitive but I don't enjoy the pounding either....I carry a PM40 bought used because the original owner and his wife couldn't deal with the recoil and he bought her a .38 j-frame instead...

My main gun is a M&P .40 and I too thought why not get another .40 and my little PM came home with me...I can shoot it pretty well up to 5-7 yards or so but the truth is after about 3 magazines I'm ready to put it down and shoot something else...It's a great pistol to carry much and shoot little IMHO...One other thing, Don't stand behind someone shooting a Kahr .40 as these little monsters HURL brass backwards (Ask me how I know)...the ejected brass is almost as dangerous as the freekin bullets!!!...

Some folks like O'Dell can shoot one all day long and not be bothered but some can't...If I had it all to do over again I would go with a PM9 and I really think it's the best all around more shootable of the two but then again when the SHTF a PM75 wouldn't be a bad idea either...

Do rent both and compare side by side then make your choice....As far as the broken follower problem I wouldn't let that change your mind if you are dead set on a .40 cal....I think the real problem with that wasn't that the feed ramps were made too long but that Kahr got a bad bunch of followers from their vendor and they were perhaps out of spec and caused breakage issues....They took some guns back and shortened the feed ramps and cured the ones having problems but I really think it was more of a bad or out of spec follower rather than an incorrect barrel/feed ramp issue....

Good luck on your choice and truth is you can't go wrong with either caliber...

seems to be the general consensous of the kAHR 40 CAL POLYMER GUNS. I know I could not have enjoyed shooting32Krounds out of a PM40 like I have with my PM9. ported or not ported. It is just a hot round

I guess I never really feared if the the 9mm would do the job either. . 99.995% of us willnever have to fire it in anger, so why not enjoy good range timej. Just sayin.

I agree with the advice to try both. For me, and for a couple of my friends, the Kahr is much more comfortable to shoot in the 9 than in the 40, and that leads to more accuracy in follow-up shots with the 9. But you don't know if you will feel the same way until you try both.

I've had both, still have the CM40. The CM40 does recoil more, but nothing that's going to make you throw it down and run away crying. If you practice, the extra recoil isn't an issue and follow up shots are still quick. I liked my CM9 a lot, fine gun, I just have a lot more .40 than I do 9mm so it made sense for me to keep the CM40. The .40 retains it's energy quite well from the 3" bbl, with most factory 165gr hovering around 1100 fps.

Both are very accurate, and despite the claims of wicked recoil, it's not hard to knock down 25yd poppers with the little 3" CM40, and it does hit harder than the CM9 did. Nothing wrong with either, I'd gladly own another CM9 in a heartbeat, but I'm thoroughly satisfied with my CM40.

I vote CM40 I have one and Love it. Nothing wrong with the CM9 I just like the bigger .40 caliber round.

However having said that I owned and loved a P9 that I still regret selling. Kahrs are great guns especially for their niche. They are also very well made guns, I'm considering a PM45 when finances allow it.

I've owned and carried many guns over the years and none have matched the Kahrs as far as comfort while carrying. The kahr design is very unique, ingenious even in that it blends all the traits of a good self defense weapon.
Being they are thin, reliable, handle recoil well due to their great trigger and low bore axis and they are powerful For their size.

In my opinion justin moon got it right when he designed these guns for their purpose. Go with the CM40 you won't be sorry.

I have a CM9 and honestly, after the CM45 has been out for about a year and any kinks worked out, that will be my next Kahr purchase probably. So I guess I am skipping over the 40, lol.

Shouldn't be any kinks. they've been building the PM45 for years and it's the same gun. I bought one four or five years ago and it was fine.
