  • Q: Ankle rig for PM9

Ok, so I have been carrying my P380 in an Galco ankle rig and my PM9 OWB in a Wild Bill holster. My wife says she prefer me to carry on the ankle, and ask me to get an ankle rig for my PM9.

I can't turn down the chance to gt a 'free' holster, so what do you think of the Galco Ankle glove? Anything better?

Not that I'm aware of. It's a great ankle rig. It should work very well with the PM9. I carry my PM45 and sometimes a compact 1911 in one.

I consider it a back up position though or a workplace where guns aren't allowed position. It's not quick but it's faster than going to your car and hoping you make it.

No. Nothing better in an ankle holster. Desantis Die Hard is very similar.

Lou Alessi used to make THE ankle rig to which all others were compared. He was legendary and I remember talking to him at length when I ordered one 15 years ago. His family has continued his designs, so they probably work just as well. Here's one for the Kahr: http://shop.alessigunholsters.com/It...%20Arms%20Guns

I use one sometimes but I have decided I do not like ankle carry at all. Sometimes I feel like it might be safer not to carry at all. In an emergency I don't think I could get to the gun quick enough and trying might just get me killed. I would go iwb or pocket. Why does wife insist in ankle. Think again. That being said I do carry ankle when no other alternative is available. And many times as a backup when carrying g23 iwb.

That's why I train in all modes of carry, whether it be on the hip, AIWB, in the pocket or on the ankle.

Ankle carry is ok for a back-up gun, but I want my primary carry at the ready.

Ask her if she'd carry her purse on her ankle... Of course not because she needs to get at it.

Not a fan of ankle holsters.

One story told by a once for hire bodyguard who was a champion kickboxer (inducted in the world kickboxing hall of fame the first year it was established along with some guy named Chuck Norris) Entourage of a well known entertainer was entering a club as the crowd swarmed them breaking the line. One of the group members reached for his ankle gun. Bodyguard with one punch did a lights out on the guy reaching for his ankle gun even though he was part of the party (normal bodyguard) then addressed the crowd issue. CCW was illegal here then and in taking the job it was understood no guns in his town. Created a bit of angst on their part but his stance was you trust me to protect you I control the scene. A gun in that instance just injected a problem.

Moral- If he had time to do that what would trying to pull on a shooter accomplish?

PS Knowing that guy if I was inside 10ft I'm pretty sure he could still take me out before I could draw and fire from the speediest of holsters. And he's far from young these days.

IMO Take a look at the clipless Remora IWB holster. It can be work appendix, on your side or on your six.

if no physical excursions are normally occuring i favor the all elastic rigs like the apache or renegade.

I use Galco's Ankle Glove with my Ruger LCR. It is very comfortable and I've no problem carrying all day with it. I see no reason it wouldn't work equally well for a PM9.

As with any holster, I practice my presentations using a timer....time to first shot on target. It easily lets you know how you are doing....and when you are practicing enough. I've found people that practice presenting from their CCW holster are in the minority of CCW holders....at least the ones I have personally talked to prove that out. Most common excuse...."The range I go to doesn't allow presentation from a holster".

I use one to carry my pm9 as a backup. Works well, but requires loose pant legs.

If you wear boots, this is way more secure. I've used this for a while now and it never comes loose or moves around on me.

I've had it so long i dont really remember, but i THINK its a gould and goodrich
