  • PM40 and A-grip

I have a PM40, and I've always had trouble with hand/grip fatigue after 40-50 rounds from the recoil. This week I put an A-grip on it, and the difference is amazing. It essentially reduced the pressure your hand has to apply to the small grip in order to control the recoil. The gun is far more controllable and more enjoyable to shoot.

I would have fired another 100 rounds after the first 100 if my pistol hadn't shot itself loose. 1/8" play in the muzzle end of the slide up/down/sideways and 8 fail to return to complete battery in 100 rounds due to hang up on the slide. Pistol will be making its 2nd trip back to Kahr. So far, in 600-700 total rds fired since new, my PM40 has yet to shoot 50rds in a row without at least 2 malfunctions. To Kahr's credit the person I spoke with was very friendly and understood my frustration with the problems I've experienced.

I love the way the PM40 carries, and I love the way it shoots...when/if it cycles reliably. I can't say that I can recommend the PM40 due to reliability problems, but if yours works fine, give the A-grip a try, it's an outstanding product.

I have done the same thing with my PM9 for the same reasons you post. Jus a bit of trimming needed around the magazine ejection button. Otherwise it was easy to install and extremely comfortable.

Does this grip work with the Crimsom Trace laser installed? I am looking for something that will smooth the back of the grip.

A-grip was a much needed accessory to my PM40, the issue I had was IWB carry it would snag on my over shirt so I trimmed about ¼”of material off the butt, problem solved. With the crimson trace I would ask Kahr Tec.

I have the Hogue handall Jr. on my PM40 and have been pleased with the fit and feel of it. Gives you a little more grip.

              John,

Did you have to trim it to fit correctly or used it just as received? Could I convience you to post a photo of your PM40 with the houge Handall Jr installed?

              Thanks,

              Tony

I have a hogue slip on grip on my PM40 and like it , then got a crimson trace laser and had to cut a knotch to accept the activation button for the laser, also trim a bit off the bottom at the mag well. quick and simple with a new single edge razor blade.

I have these pix taken a few weeks ago, but should show what you're looking for.

I put on the Hogue Jr upside down coz this will cover the back strap completely.

See pix 2 - I did trim the sleeve a little around the mag release.

Try a Pachmayr # 4 it fits perfect, looks great and makes a huge difference. I run these on Both my PM9 & 40.

At the end of your range session your hands will thank you
