Front night sight only?

Anyone running with just the front, and sticking with the stock rear?

I have a new CM9 I'm thinking of doing this with, as right now I'm looking to keep my spending to a minimum and the front sight for the CM9's looks like something I can do myself. I like to have a gunsmith do installs on dovetails.

General thoughts? If you did this, do you like it? Any issues sighting in under lower light conditions with just the front? Have you not like it and ended up putting on the rear in time?

The only way I'd run a tritium sight is front and rear and I'd have both installed by a good gunsmith.

I've got the Dawson front only on my CM9 and I painted it bright orange. I would have considered getting a rear sight as well if they had come in colors other than green for the tritium. Also, I don't like the big white painted circles that typically surround most rear 2-dot sights. My favorite night sights are the green/yellow Operator models by Ameriglo, have them on all my defensive Glocks.

2 of my guns have front & rear night sights & my m&p 340 jFrame came from S&W with just the front XS Night Sight. IMO in darkness the front is the most important.

correct. in a SHTF scenario, at BEST u might see the front sight, trying or thinkin of lining up a front sight and back sight and ******* BG, and more than likely ur dead. I shoot my PM9 with xs big dot front sight and that bugger just grabsur eyeballs, . the back sight even though it is there just seems to fall rightin place to. I would be if my kahr had noback sight and at 7 yards I wouldshoot it just as good using the front sight, which is ur primary sight to see anyhow. I like the Big dot,course I am 69 and my eye sight is not so good anymore, but it is a very nice quick acquisistion sight...

I put a trijicon front sight on my CM9 a couple of weeks ago. Bought it from the Kahr website, it's the 'new' trijicon (2012 manufacture). It was easy to install, easy to pick up, and accurate.

I did it to my PM9 (front only) using Dawson and Jocko says when SHTF the rear sight ain't goin to be happening, specially with such of small barrel with practice it's like pointing your index finger....Now my mine it's for personal protection, not bullseye shooting. Just my thought.

I had the same question and almost everyone said front only.... yet you are going with both... Rebel !! Ha ha.... let us know or me pvt message if you like the set... I have never used night sights and tired of the stock ones on my CM9.

I've installed the front night sights from kahr's websight on both my CW40 & CM9. The front polymer stock sight is very easy to remove & clean up & the new trijicon night sight is all metal and is held in place by two pins & a small machine screw. They include a small tube of red loctite. After 400 rnds later I can confirm that the sights are not going anywhere. highly recommended for a carry gun.

I bought mine just recently with the factory front night sight as it was only about $25 more and I thought it would be an asset. I have not shot the gun at night but I can tell you it only glows a bit when it is REALLY dark. I suppose in pitch darkness it will definitely help. For regular shooting I don't even notice it.

I like the front only tritium sight on most of my pistols or a rear yellow and green front. If my glasses are not on in the middle of the night, the same color front and rear will blur together. Most of my pistols, unless they came with tritium sights from the factory, are front tritium only. I have one that has rear yellow and green front. Works well.

Front only on revolvers. I find the best use of rear sights is finding it in the dark while it's holstered.

XS Big Dot night sight front ,with XS non tritium V/post rear sight on my Shield. I like it just fine for night and day. Big Dot covers a lot of the target but not so much I can"t keep a group when range shooting. Haven't tried it past 10 yards.
