  • PM9 Pinky Extension?

I have two P9s, and love 'em. Decided to buy a PM9 for those lighter occasions, thinking I could get two fingers comfortably around the grip. Wrong. I have very large hands. I tried the factory base plate off a P9 mag, but found that I had to slam the mag home to get it to seat. Does anyone know of a good, reliable option for some semblence of a pinky extension? Seems like I have seen pics of one that looks like a Pearce variant.

    Thanks in advance.

You can take that "flush mount" polymer base and a piece of sandpaper and slowly remove plastic... slowly with checks for fit... until there's enough space for the magazine to reliably seat for proper retention. That's the trick. I converted all of my P-series pistols to flush-mounted metal bases for maximum concealment. I don't mind a two-finger grip... even on my PM45. I DID have to add a 3/32" O-ring to stop the P40's mag from pinching my pinkie!

    Different strokes for different folks....

I'm more concerned with maximum concealability, so I don't like any extensions and am comfortable with two-finger grips... even on my PM45 with it's "flush-fitting" polymer base plate... for which I keep trying to find a metal... real flush-fitting base. Different strokes....

I'm in your same situation with the large hand issue. I used the pierce extension for a while then I took it off. You can get used to the smaller grip with a little time, but it will never be like your P9.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Thanks for all the replies. Any advice on sources for a good IWB mag holder?

My suggestion would be to try some Talon grips which will help you get a good grip on the gun. My thoughts are that if you extend the mag, might as well carry the P9.

I had a problem with the 3/32 o-ring that kept the magizine from seating completely. I added a prearce extention to my CM9 and now have a place for my pinky. There were two to a pack and were around $11 from Crimson Trace.
