  • Anybody Tried 10rnd Promag for PM/CM9?

I recently found out that Promag (Pmag) sells 10 round magazines compatible with K9, P9 and PM9. Made of blue steel, I've been told it sticks out of the bottom of the grip more than 2 inches.

Has anybody tried one? I would love to see a picture of how ugly it looks. Any feed problems?

      Are you sure?

If this 8 round mag fits all Kahr 9mm guns, why wouldn't the 10 rounder work?

No. I never even thought about a ten round mag in a PM9. I conceal carry mine so a ten round mag kind of defeats the purpose of buying such a small framed pistol in the first place. If I feel the need for a ten round mag or better I'll go with one of the CZ or Glock 26. Doesn't happen often but if I go into Philly then the more 9mm brothers and sister I have on me the better.

It sticks out a lot. Look at the holes and compare to your 6rd mag. Also hear of negative experiences a long time back, but they may have fixed whatever was wrong.

Think about this Popeye....back up mag. Some of us do carry them because we realize the 6 round magazine that fits nicely into the grip of the PM9 is very limiting. I currently carry the 7 round magazine that the gun came with as back up but I think it would very wise and very safe to carry a magazine as large as possible as back up.

What if you were in an environment with multiple shooters. Imagine you expend your entire magazine in a hold up situation. The attacker is down but you have no idea if he has accomplices in the area. I would rather be reloading 10 than 6.

As far as I know, all 9mm single stack Kahr mags are interchangeable. Do you have better information I'm unaware of?

It's a bit of a crap shoot since the ProMag doesn't state it fits the PM9. You can see from the list below (from Kahr Site) some 9mm mags fit all but others don't:

MK620 6 rounds, stainless steel with flush baseplate (Fits Kahr Covert, MK, PM & CM models) MK720 7 rounds, stainless steel with grip extension (Fits Kahr Covert, MK, PM & CM models) K820 7 rounds, stainless steel (Fits all Kahr 9mm models except T9 & TP9) K920G 8 rounds, stainless steel with grip extension (Fits all Kahr 9mm models except T9 & TP9) K920 8 rounds, stainless steel (Fits all Kahr 9mm models)
I'd say if you want try it buy it.

I would like a 10 round mag to but promag is more than iffy. It could probably be tuned to work as a back up mag. I carry the 8 rounder for back up in both my cm and cw9.

I have a ProMag 10rd. Kahr 9mm magazine. It locks into my CW9 just fine so there should be no issue with it locking into the CM/PM 9s. I bought mine used, so I don't know if the spring is OEM or not. It certainly is not strong enough (or the right size) for the 10rd magazine to function properly. However, the spring and ProMag follower do work fine in a Kahr 7rd. magazine. I never followed up on getting a better spring for the 10rd. magazine as I only bought it for the follower.

I did a photo comparison of Kahr 9mm magazines. Here's an example of Kahr's longest 9mm mag with extended grip. I have a bunch of these for the range and use them as carry spares. Here are the PM9 and K9. I also have a P9 now with ported 4" barrel not pictured.

Your luck may be better than mine, but I've had five or six ProMags over the years and only one worked. That one was for a SIG P225 and I credit the pistol and not the mag for the proper function.

I have a 7 and a 8 Round ProMag for the range, both function fine, but the springs aren't even close to being as strong as Kahr's springs.

Now this has me thinking. I have far too many weapons, like my PM9, that just aren't "scary" enough to worry even those in New York. So, maybe with a Promag magazine (I've had mixed luck with them over the years) with a Maguts modification, the capacity could be over 10 rounds! Possibly I could install a pistol grip on the bottom of the magazine, and have a "banworthy" PM9.

I don't think it has to be reliable, or even work, to concern the antis.

thanks for the video Greg! Was that a jam? That magazine sure does look silly long. I didn't realize Promag was so iffy. I always thought of them as standard for AR's.
