Can't get the last round in the mag.

Hi everyone, I just got my CM9 today, it is my first pistol and I have been doing my prep work. But my first time to load it seems to only want to let five rounds in. After that I have to push extremely hard and even then it doesn't go down enough to get the last one in. Is this normal and should I have to push real hard to get the sixth one in? Thanks

Ok, I didn't seat the mag spring properly into the follower. It is locked and loaded now. Anyway can't wait to actually shoot it.

Good for you for getting the mag problem diagnosed and repaired. I have a new pm9 and after following the prep guidelines on this site I have not had a single problem. I have only shot a little over 200 rounds but i sure like this little gun. I think you will really like yours too. Keep that smile on your face while shooting!

I will report back after I get it to the range but at this point I love the feel and quality. I live in NY and I actually got my permit earlier than I was expecting so I got caught without any holsters so I am going to find a pocket holster today so I can carry it. I have the DeSantis sof tuck IWB on the way.

and we cll can learn from utters mistakes to. We won't live long enogh to make um all, so IMO thatis why we have alot of "do it urself" threads to. I haven't been on any forum ever that wants to help an owner more than this one does. That to me is a credit to our members.. How many have even bought new kahrs and the damn mag springs are in backwards, I lost count. Not always our fault either..

Many of your questions can be answered in these areas and you can learn how your Kahr works and not damage it with improper handling.

Another great resource for information on Kahrs... Archives of Magazine and Internet Reviews for Kahr pistols by industry experts. They test these pistols and report on their views and the ammo they tested in it. This is a good way to find ammo that might fit your needs along with accuracy and feeding in the pistol... usually from a rest with velocity and energy, as well as penetration and expansion sometimes... very informational.

One very important bit of advice: Hold the Kahr pistol firmly when firing OR CHAMBERING a round. These compact pistols need all of the force they can get from the slide to get a round into the chamber successfully. If you don't hold the pistol firmly, part of the needed momentum is transferred to MOVING THE PISTOL and the top round will DIVE and jam into the right side of the feed ramp. The weak hand, over hand rack method gives the best grip and a firm rack will give you the best chance at chambering a round.

Use the weak hand fingers over the slide(clear of the ejection port), thumb along the slide and pointing to the rear. Use the gun hand to simultaneously firmly push the gun as you give a vigorous rack with the weak hand and cleanly release the slide as it reaches the rear limit and is "snatched" from the weak hand. This approximates a real rack from firing and beats the slide release method WHEN executed properly. Much more strength can be exerted when this is done closer to the body.

The best holster I have found for forget-it-is-there comfort 24/7 with my CM9 is the PJ IWB Holster. There are so, so many members here that will concur. Paul is a great guy and a real gun lover, and he performs magic with kydex - making the holster incredibly comfortable to where you can't tell it is there whether sitting, standing or moving about. It is like the mass of the gun disappears, becoming one with your body. I carry mine with a 15° cant just behind my hip - the sweet spot. I prefer the one linked above with the over the belt clip. I normally wear the above under a loose shirt.

Well back from the range. The gun worked flawlessly with 50 rounds of Federal American Eagle 115 gr. and I thought it was extremely comfortable to shoot. That coming from a guy who has shot a handgun since the 80s.

My last grouping was at 7 yards with my personal protection rounds, Hornady TAP FPD 124 gr. I put 6 with three inches of each other and quit while I was ahead.

Now to clean it! By the way, what do you use to move the rear sight? thanks

Don't move it yet. You will find that as you get more used to shooting the Kahr trigger system the shots will work to the point of aim. That's what others have found.

I can tell you I moved my PMJ9 rear sight so much that all I have to do now is look at it and close my left eye and it will move itself to the right, or I close my right eye and the sight moves to the left by itself, and after a few rounds I am right back where I started in the first place. What I am saying is usually the sight needs no adjustment,but the shooter does...Just sayin

I also bet ur rifle does ot have a looooong trigge rtravel either.
