  • 2nd Time Out

Just ran my second 50 through my new CM9. It worked flawlessly. This time I also used a silhouette target and tried some quick shots as if I were in some sort of defensive situation rather than just concentrate on trying to hit the bulls-eye.

What I took away from this is that if I just point and shoot I am all over the place hitting the mass mostly but no idea where. If I take a split second longer to line up the sights very quickly I do a lot better. I guess the question is whether I would be willing to do that in a life or death situation. All this from 21 feet.

Anyway, no FTF or FTEs so I am happy. It is all cleaned and tucked away.

That's why I like a laser on my carry piece, you can get a 2nd shot off pretty quickly without taking time to line up the sights. Just put the dot on the BG, and squeeze the trigger.

      2nd Time Out

A fast miss is not a great defensive strategy. Front sight. Squeeze. Front sight. Squeeze.

In general, you will fight like you train. You won't have time to think when stuff happens and your training will take over. Pick or develop a system and train yourself to it. I use the front sight focus for my training, it is the best for me. I am wanting an Xs big dot for my CM9 so it will be like my other fighting pistols. Hope they come out with a replacement for the staked in sights on the CM9.

Like many others around here, I love my CM9. If I could change anything about the gun, it would only be the front sight.

I can definitely see all of what is being said now that I have shot a little. But I already know more than I did and so like Gringo and Plateshooter said, it is clear that you have to learn to aim and not shoot it like a shotgun.

I am unfamiliar with Xs big dot so will have to look that up. thanks
