Yes, I have read the owners manual. But, I purchased a CM9 on Thursday to go with my CW9 and K9; its an IO serial number. The whole "drop the slide from the slide=stop" thing never made sense to me. I brought the CM9 home, cleaned it, polished the slide rails and contact points and lubed it. Since then I have successfully slingshotted the slide with every personal protection load I have in my possession. Everything has been flawless, just like my CW9 and K9. I just don't buy the idea that operating the slide like every other semi-auto pistol I have is wrong. Yes it is a strong recoil spring but it has been flawless so far. Given my KAHR experience I expected nothing less.

That is great! Many, if not most, have learned/engrained bad technique on forgiving duty sized weapons. They ride the slide a little and they still go into battery just fine.

Congrats on the new CM9. Your Kahr collection is very similar to mine and they have all run flawless.

I'm sure it's all simply technique. Obviously, over the years you've perfected it ... me, I'm still working on it. Most of the time I nail, but sometimes I don't.

Most Kahrs will slingshot out of the box, they are just unforgiving if you don't do it properly. You've obviously got it figured out.

I see no need at least on any of mine for polishing the rails. Shooting it will do that for you in good time.

How did/what did you polish the rails with?

I used 800 grit wet/dry emery paper wrapped around a Popsicle stick. It just barely fits in the slide rails. Then I used a little (and I mean little) TW-25 on the spots recommended in the sticky.

but u outta get good both ways. using the slide stop lever would be a must if you have an injured hand etc. I guarantee u that if the slide release methohd doesn't load perfectlyk that hand racking is not gonna do one bit better. It is good to go both ways. If u can't carry a spare mag then it is apples and oranges, and u better be damn good at hand racking, or clearing a jam etc... also to me sounds like u are a better operator of your kahr than many new owners, who I do recommend to start out doing what kahr ask of you to do to load the gun etc.

Jocko, I respect your and Bawanna's experience. My training regime involves both right and left hand shooting and clearing malfunctions with both hands. I also practice magazine changes both ways; from the slide stop and from a closed slide. My point, if inelegant is that the platform is capable of more than the marketing staff gives it credit for.

Bawanna, my minor polishing of contact points is how I get to know a new firearm. It is much like Aladdin rubbing the lamp and releasing the Genie (or genius) of KAHR.

I sling shot both my CM9 and MK9. The trick I learned to do it correctly is to pull the slide back until you hear 2 sounds, a click and a clack. If you hear both then you have the slide back far enough to ride it forward to load. If you only hear the first click, it won't work. Try it and see for yourself.

Well I've actually only had two experiences and both were bad so my experience don't much count.

I think Kahr knows what their platform is capable of, they also know how new or inexperience shooters can ride a slide and not do a proper sling shot.
So rather than add staff to answer phone calls they recommend loading from slide stop. Just easier.

I love the Aladin rubbing the Genie (I screwed that up didn't I) deal. That's a good plan.
Like I said I could tell you got it figured out.
