CM9 slide play

quick question, just randomly noticed this about my CM9, just wondering if its all of them and normal... If you grab the slide on either end where the sights are, you can actually move it up and down a mm or so while its still attached on the frame. In fact, if you shake the gun while holding the frame, it will actually make a rattling because the slide is hitting the frame back and forth. Normal?

it won't make a sound if u have a loaded magazinein the gun. ur producing something that is not gonna happen with a loaded magazine.

It's completely normal after you've broken it in. Mine is fairly loose after ~600+ rounds and it functions without issues. People brag about Kahrs being "tight" but in my experience that's only brand new out of the box Kahrs and after they've been put through their paces they're no tighter than your average Glock (IMHO).

FWIW, my CW45 will rattle a slight amount with or without a loaded magazine in it. As long as the pistol functions reliably and with accuracy, the "rattle" is not an issue.

I am having similar experience with my cm9..

It also seems that when I do some dry fire practice I can see the front sight drop down about 1mm as I pull the trigger. I set it flat on a table and dry fired to eliminate user error, and had the same result.

After looking at it from every angle, it appears the front part of the slide gets pulled down the slightest bit (feels like a spring pulling it down) whenever I so much as pull the trigger (even if it is not cocked)

I noticed this after my first trip to the range, haven't been back since, and have only dry fired since, I cannot comment on how it is with the mag in.

I have only put 100 rounds through it so far, so I'm not jumping to any conclusions quite yet. However, the gun was flawless and very accurate through those first 100 rounds so I'm not too worried about it. It is just the smallest little detail I have noticed since I obsess over the gun and inspect it daily

Will let you know if anything develops from it.. I also will try to put up a video to show what I am talking about whenever I get a chance.

It will not affect accuracy. In fact, the most accurate Kahrs I have (of 6 I own) are the loosest fit.

Put a snap cap in the mag and dry fire ... and you won't feel the minuscule rise and fall of the slide. With nothing in the chamber, the pressure on the cocking cam causes a feel of "play" in the tolerances. With the extractor latched onto a casing rim in the chamber ... it's not there.

#1ur tryingto create ascenario that the gun is ot designed to be handled like. Dry firng with an empty magazine willdo what ur saying. It is whatiut is. Dry fire it with an unloaded mag i the gun and it will not do that. Shoot the gun with a loaded magazine and it willnot do that. The slide is pushe dupward with the magazineinsertedand with liverounds it is certainly pushed upward. That fact trhat some guns "might" even have some side play with a loaded magazine is certainly nothingto get concernedabout. U ain't gonna shoot that gun as good as it is made to be shot IMO. IT IS A DEFENSE GUN, probalby not as tight as a match grade 1911. None of anyt of myt 4kahrs rattle with anunloaded or loaded magazine in the gun.

Even a match grade 1911 has play in it. The frame and slide are what's called a sliding fit. No play, no slide. If the gun shoots reasonable good groups with an experienced shooter behind it then stop worrying. And yes, the left front frame rail is supposed to have a notch in it.
