Squeaky trigger. This normal?

Finally got my new CM9 home. Out of the box, and of course I want to see how smooth this trigger is that everyone is always raving about.

It squeaks. So I field stripped it, and I can see what's hanging up. I think.

At the very top of the mag well, on the right hand side where the trigger connects to that S shaped piece of flat metal, which rides against the frame. I can see what looks like a small wire that's holding that assembly in place?? We'll those two pieces of steel riding against each other is what's making the noise, I can even feel the vibration in the trigger. (If I can manage to get a picture of it, I'll post it, it's pretty tight in there..)

Is this normal? Will it wear in after the break-in period?

When the gun is assembled, the entire slide assembly will wiggle 1/16" of an inch left or right on the polymer too. Did I get a lemon or something?

That wiggle is normal...it will not be there when gun is loaded. I can't check my cm9 right now, but I believe I remember maybe a little squeak in my trigger as well. It is either normal, or not an issue as my cm9 shoots flawlessly.

I'd try a little grease on that trigger bar or take a stone or fine sand paper and polish it up a little bit. That will cure the squeak.

It's easier to access if you remove the sideplate but do that very carefully and don't over tighten the screw.

It should wear in and cure itself given a little time.

This gives me an excuse to buy a polishing wheel too...

I'm still interested to hear if everyone else's triggers are squeaking too..because I've never ever heard of this problem in a review. And I hate to think I'm the most OCD person on the internet..

...and I dont know what to think about these imperfections in the Stainless. Theres a couple spots that look like something dripped on it and stained it. You can only see it in the right light.

I bought a new guy expecting it to be pretty...I already have functional pistols. If I wanted imperfections I would have bought used.

It may not make you feel any better, but you really can't expect(or at least I wouldn't) a pristine firearm for under $400. They are what they are. In the case of your firearm, I don't think you could have gotten a used one much cheaper. If it really bothers you, and you got it locally, maybe they could help you out.

Well, yes, but if you are not happy, by all means you should see what can be done, so you're satisfied. Isn't that the name of the game?

There's an old saying Walt. "If you look for a problem you're going to find one." How long do you think it will take you to cause an imperfection in the gun if you carry it daily? If you look at anything in the right light you'll find slight imperfections. We don't live in a perfect world. There was only one man who was perfect and they hung him on a cross.

When Jocko started working for Kahr, he was aware ammo is so expensive, so he had Kahr build in a trigger squeak to substitute for the 1st warning shot. He had originally planned to use a squawk, but stated that most guys will ignore it thinking it may be the wife calling. The new trigger squeak technology is perfectly normal and free as a standard feature from Kahr.

Without seeing it, it's hard to give any advice as to what the "imperfections" in the finish might be, but on the chance it's not something that would require refinishing to correct, try wiping the slide with acetone (or something similar) followed by a wipe down with your lubricant of choice (even a shot of WD40 and wipe might clear it up).

not say this is normal.The magazine should not come into contact with that trigge rbar spring. Do what the members here ask of u,a shot of grease in that area and alittle polish on the RS of the magazine where it is making contact should help. Also,if this is happening with a empty magazine, then with a full magazine, things do change. So do the kahr prepp on the gun and then take the fokker out d shoot it like u stole it.I would bet after the 200 round breakin this will dissappear. If not drop kahr an email ad tellthem twhat u are seeing and u think itcold be magazine related causing it.

A dab of grease where that little pring rides under thgat trigger bar will do wonders.

yes, they squeak. Both of mine do. My cw way more than my cm. But it never caused any issue in shooting.

Sarcastic or not lol...

The magazine doesnt touch the trigger bar at all. Im having this problem with the frame empty. Theres some paper-clip looking spring thats riding/rubbing/vibrating (dont get excited) against it.

Again thanks to everyone. Ill grease it, but Im thinking a dry lube like graphite might work better..
