  • Sight pusher for PM9

I'm new to PM9 and want to change out the front sight for a night sight (mepro).

Everything I read says the PM9 front sight is TIGHT and a good pusher is needed if you don't want to send the slide back to Kahr.

Everything I seem to read is several years old at the latest!

Anybody with recent experiences with a sight pusher and can recommend a candidate and/or give advice?

        Hey I've got that press!

And FWIW, I used a steel rod and that press to remove a string of pellets from my boss's pellet pistol. He had maybe.. oh... twelve or fifteen strung in a row.... in the barrel. They came out like a string of silver dog poo.

I just use a big vice (8", heavy, also HF) and a brass punch, and "Mr. Hammer" to get sights out. The key is holding that slide solid as Gibralter. Kahr sights are noted for being tough hombres to move. I dunno if a mere pusher would break 'em loose sometimes.

Unless you plan on moving a lot of sights, send the slide to someone to have it done. Hammers and punches slip, vises bend stuff, and not all sight pushers will move all manufacturers sights.

Ding, ding, ding, ding! We have a winner. Best answer yet. Why pay more than the cost of the sight for a pusher unless you're going into the sight pushing business. Great post, 340pd.

Kahr wants $40 + $25 shipping + $5 to send it in + God knows how much down time.

Seems that $70 is more than 1/2 way to a good pusher. If you do sights twice, then its paid for and also nice tool to have.

OK: Nimrods, here is the best pusher money can buy and it will work on kahrs, glocks and the little 380 kahr evn.

Called the Universal Site Tool P500 #694-000-001 brownells part #. I tink a tad over a $100. a good investment if ur gonna push. I have had one for 5 years and I don't use it hardly anymore but at first I thiough I had to move my sites on my PMJ9 to ge the accuracy that I needed, as my shooting skills suckeslike a Hoover or a Monica. I moved my site son my PMJ9 so uch that it go to be funny that every time I would pull that P500 out of the shooters bag, my sites on my PMJ9 would just move automatically, so I have o real need for iut anymore. Funny dan thing though I bet I moved those sites left and right and then back left and thenb back right until I finallygot the gun shooting pretty good and I noticed tha tthe sites were exactly in the middle where I originally started with.DA!! Just sayin

But this is a good tool won't mar jack sh!t either. ol jocko recommends it.
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

                  Here is all you need.
Ive pulled, changed, and adjusted sights with one of these ... even installed a LaserLyte sight on aT9 with one. Use a socket set to "push" the blade and it's safe, non marring, and effective. If you don't need the many different blade patterns of this one, the same guy sells a single bladed version for about $45.

No smith is going to charge you less than that ... and you still own the tool for the next gun you want to change.

Glad mine came with the night sights. Good luck.

Lowest cost solution appears to be..... Sending your slide to Jocko.

Next alternative is bring it in to a local gunsmith. The last set of Truglo's I had installed on my XDm ran me $10 and I tipped him $10 more. Took less than ten minutes if you catch him in a good mood.

You LGS will probably install the new sights for about $35-$40. No shipping required.

I use special tools for my Glocks, but I would send or take my Kahrs to a pro.
