  • Is 499 a good price for a used PM45?

Noticed a used PM45 in a LGS that the owner of the store used to carry. Looks in near new condition and comes with a custom leather holster and mag carrier. He said he might have put 100 rounds through it and doesn't think the break in period has been completed. ( he took it in trade)

    Fair price or not?

He also has a NIB CW45 for 349 which is a good price but serving issues people have been posting recently with this gun has me a little shy on it now

The PM45 and CW45 are virtually the same gun except for the barrel and sights. The rest is cosmetics. There is no way to tell how many rounds have been put through a used gun. A Kahr pistol is warranted only to the original owner. New the PM45 retails for about $650. Only you can decide if it's a fair price. I wouldn't buy it unless the LGS allows you to test fire it. You could be buying someone else's problem child.
Never trust anyone who doesn't trust you to own a gun.

I'd take the CW45 new for $349, it's brand new and will be warrented to you, I have had 2 CW45's a brand new one and a used one, the used one shot 100% the new one had a couple of fail to extract during the break in period, I took it home after 50 rounds, followed the jocko sticky in the tech section about prepping it and took it back out, ran 100% after the prep work, which basically all I did was rack the slide 200 times, clean the gun real good, greased the rails and other lube points, then shot it.

Also, you can buy officer mags for it cheaper then kahr 6 round mags, those run about $25 shipped or so from Greg cote LLC , you want the act mags, they worked 100% in both the CW 45's I had.

To paraphrase muggsy, besides the PM45 having about a half inch less length and a little less than that in height (one less round), it also has a polygonal rifled barrel and dovetailed front sight. The CW45 has plastic front sight secured by melted posts and a barrel with lands and grooves for rifling. Regards,
        Greg

BTW, as it ships new, the PM45 comes with two 5 round magazines, the CW45 with one.

The guy traded in the gun holster & mag carrier after 100 rounds? Ditto to what Muggsy said.

not a good price if u only have 480$ though.
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

No, a customer traded it on something else and the shop owner liked it so much he took it himself.

From what he told me HE is the one who only put 100 rounds through it. He said the only reason he put it out for was because a Colt 6920 with OD furniture arrived and he wanted one of them.

Not sure how gun shop owners deal with their purchases but sounds like the go through same buying procedure as customers

Unless the PM45 proves to be problematic, which Kahr will address, the PM45 would be a great deal, especially with the accessories.

If you want a larger pistol and especially if you plan to shoot reloads, the CW45 might be a better choice for you.

I prefer the P and PM models' quality finish and features over "perceived" savings of the "C/CW" models. YMMV.

I just purchased a CT 45 from Grabagun for 275 shipped. 20 fee at my FFL so total cost is 295. I like that deal
