CM9 Accuracy issues?

Has anyone else experienced accuracy issues with their new CM9? My son recently purchased a new one and he ask me to shoot it since he couldn't hit what he was aiming at. I sand bagged it and set up 8-1/2" x 11" targets at 30'. I could not hit the paper! Mind you, I am a decent shot and have been shooting for 50+ years but something is drastically wrong with his gun. We shot several brands of ammo and it made no difference. It was missing the center of the target by 10" (low). He has since returned it to Kahr but I was just curious if others have experienced this too?

Yes I did. I always hit low and left. I had to learn to use the Kahr trigger as if I was a new shooter. (Been shooting for over 60 yrs.) Read all the "stickies", listened to advice of shooters on this forum and went to Youtube and watched everything I could. Am now putting my shots in 3" to 4" patterns on a 8" X 11" paper at 21 ' with my CM9. Hope to get better yet. As I am not even close to an expert on this I will let the real ones coach you. I'm not suggesting that there isn't something wrong with your son's KAHR; there might be, but ALL the tiny handguns are difficult to shoot well.
The PM9/CM9 line have a long smooth trigger that is different from most. The long trigger takes the place of additional safeties.
It is almost easier to transition from a revolver to a CM9 than from any semi-auto, because the revolver trigger is similar to the KAHR.
The "dot the i" sights take a little learning too.
The 3" barrel exaggerates any imperfections in your grip, breath, sighting and trigger control.

That said, starting to learn the new gun at 30 feet might be stretching things too far. Bring it in to about half that distance, get comfortable with things; then move the targets out.

This was taken on first range trip with new CM9. I did have a CW9 first and 40+ years of shooting DA revolvers. It shoots for me about as accurate as my CW9s and CT9. The targets were shot off hand at 7 yds except for the 25 yd one. I knew after 6 out of 6 on a paper plate off hand at 25 yds, I had a winner.

I can keep all of my shots within a three inch circle at 21' rapid fire. Are you familiar with what the the sight picture of a gun equipped with combat sights is supposed to look like? Are you familiar with long double action trigger pulls? If not, find someone who is and have him shoot the gun. That should tell you all that you need to know.

True that, all of the above. I'd also try a bigger target and see if your getting groups or fliers.

Low and left for a right handed person is very common at first.

I did have a MK9, that a deputy sheriff dropped off his belt while out crabbing. He took a GPS reading and a couple of our diver officers here went and retrieved it. It was in Puget sound for like 45 days. Found it in minutes and it was still in the clip on holster.

Went right from the water into a bucket of oil. I sent it to kahr and they replace all the small parts and springs.

Got it back and the sheriff wouldn't take it back, he felt stupid for dropping it so it ended up living with a detective and we all kind of use it.

Anyhow, several had it and everyone complained they couldn't hit nothing with it so it eventually got back to me. I took it out and sure enough I couldn't hit a paper plat at 6'. I finally aimed at the right edge and just winged the left edge, so I though aha, now I got it, couldn't hit it a second time. Finally aimed at the left edge and winged the right edge.

Soooooo I got a new barrel and now it's a tack driver. Apparently the salt corroded the polygonal rifling just enough that it wouldn't stabilized the bullet.

I doubt this relates to your issue but if your not getting groups at least, maybe the rifling is off?

I carry a CW380 so I am intimately familiar with Kahr's trigger. My CW is a tack driver but his CM9 ... well its another story.

I'll soon be 66 years old and have shot handguns all of my life. I've been very pleased with my shooting ability. People comment on my shooting. But the Kahr is a different animal to learn to shoot. I have several S&W revolvers and I have always shot them well double action. My cm9 trigger has been hard for me to transition to even being able to shoot d. a. revolvers. But I'm getting there. It's all learning the trigger.

This is strictly in the "for what it's worth" department. Because ammo is so expensive I bought a semi-automatic CO2 pistol, built a pellet trap and practiced for hours in my back yard and garage (21'), after watching some very good instructional video's on Youtube on shooting these guns. After about a month I took my CM9 back to the range and couldn't believe the difference!

If you can hit with your CW380, the CM9 trigger shouldn't be much different. Maybe a trip back to Kahr is in the cards. As you are hearing, accuracy is not usually an issue with a CM9.
