Kahr CM45 problems

    Kahr CM45 problems

    Hello everyone I went on a shooting trip yesterday and brought along a new Kahr cm45 to break in before i start carrying it... I had a few failures to feed with in the first 150 rounds wich was expected the next 100 rounds were flawless... The problem im having is when I try and remove a live round from the chamber with out the mag in the gun the round gets wedged between the barrel and slide... It's like the round is hitting the ejector rod too soon causing it to jam into the barrel to where I have to pry it out... I was just wondering if any one has experienced this problem and if there is a remedy with out sending it back to Kahr... Thanks in advance...

    I had the exact same issue. I filed a small bit from the legnth of the ejector and that fixed it right up. Some have relieved a little from the barrel but i wasn't that brave. Shortening the ejector may have helped my brass to head issue also.

    Congratulations on the cm45. Mine runs good now too and after 300 to 400 rounds its really smooth.

    Oh, and welcome to the forum.
    The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

      What M1A is that you have? Looks like a socom from the angle of the picture?

        Yes this seems to be an issue with some Kahr 45's. My CM45 would not eject live rounds either.
        But it is an easy fix, you just need to break/stone the edge of the barrel hood and then polish. That will give you enough room to eject live rounds. I did this and have no problem ejecting FMJ, LSWC, Ranger 230 gr HP ammo now.

          Hey thanks for the reply I figured some one on here has experienced the same thing... Im going to file it down later today how much material did you take off? The m1a in the picture is a scout squad I had a socom and sold it to buy the scout but both are nice guns...

            Thanks for the reply I'm going to check that out...I got those grips off of ebay from the 1911 grip guy... They are g10 grips like the Vz grips but are about 20 dollars cheaper

              Could it be that the recoil spring is so stiff that you're not pulling the slide back fast enough to properly eject the round?

                Hey thanks for the reply when there isn't a round in the chamber its easy to rack all the way back...

                  I just got done taking some material off of the ejector and the barrel hood and polished it... I'm m happy to say it fixed the problem thank you guys for the info...

                    What stock do you have on the scout? I have the socom 16 and it still has the crappy factory stock although i did some tweaks to tighten it up. It doesnt group real well with bulk ammo though. I put a bushnell trs 25 on the forward rail and practice standing and shooting gallon jugs at 50, 75, and 100 yards. I figure if i can hit those regularly its good enough to hunt if i can find a rest to shoot from.

                      Lose the scope and the Tupperware. Put it in a fine piece of walnut and get on with your life. Damn kids!

                      If God intended rifle stocks to be Tupperware he would have made it grow out of the ground like a tree or something.

                        Its just an old fiberglass Vietnam era m14 stock that i sanded down and spray painted with krylon and it fits pretty tight...[IMG][/IMG]

                          Hey boss, im not sensitive (well thats what the wife says anyway) so no offense taken here. As a matter of fact i asked her today how come shes 4'10" and has so much control over me at 6'1"? Something is just not right. Anyway I've got 7-800 rounds of mil-spec ammo I'm working my way through so come on over and we'll shoot some.

                          Got the socom last christmas as a family gift. I was looking on Freds website in the past and looking at the fiberglass, walnut, and birch stocks. The factory stock is too flimsy. Tried the scope mount thing and didn't like it. The socom sights are less than ideal. I put a bead on top of the front night sight which helped. The peep sight apature on the back is a little too big for my liking so i may change that one. The one nice thing I like about the red dot is its super light and low and almost will co-witness with the factory sights. If it get the irons like i want them the red dot is gone.

                          The thing is really fun to shoot and the compensator does help i think. Not to complain but for what the thing cost the stock could have been better.

                            I'm sorry I didn't realize you was so big, I ain't much bigger than your missus but I'm wiry.

                            If you are pondering wood for real you might check Boyds. I've had good success with them on my Garand and a few others

                            Red Dot might actually not be too bad, I thought it was a scope which isn't a bad thing for reach out and touch someone. Leastwise that's the story I use when I don't want to admit my eyes ain't what they used to be and also my eyes ain't what they used to be. At least my memory is intact.

                              I hear you I got lucky and mine came with a nice walnut stock I took it off and put the fiberglass stock on beacuse I didn't want to beat it up... when I had my socom it was pretty hard to hit anything past 100yrds with the brick of a front sight post that came on it... I replaced the front sight with a Springfield national match front sight and it worked great even with the overly big hole in the rear sight...
