  • Bent spring on my CM40

So...I last shot my CM40 about a month ago. First time that I didn't have any ftfs or the like. I finally felt good about purchasing the gun (in June). I hadn't cleaned it since the last trip to the range. I thought that I would clean it while watching football yesterday. Field stripped it and WOW! What a neat looking spring! I sent same picture to Kahr. They are sending me a new spring. When I asked, they would not speculate about what would cause the spring to get deformed.

Any ideas about why this would happen from the knowledgeable masses on Karhtalk?

I don't see a picture but I surmise your probably talking about the slide stop take down spring.

That's strange, must have been bad from the get go. Send that picture to Kahr and I'm sure they'll send you a new recoil assembly.

Is that extra coil attached to the main spring anyplace or just floating extra. Don't look like it could be a part of the main spring in the photo.

It's part of the main spring. Definitely deformed. Kahr is sending me a new spring.

Cool! Gotta just assume it was a defective spring. That new recoil assembly should fix you right up.

That spring reminds me of some sort of strangled intensinal disorder..... jeeeze. The fix is easy. Slide off the old spring, slide on the new, and.....you get to run a few break in boxes of ammo thru it again.

I don't think Kahr sells just the outer spring. I suspect he'll get a whole new assembly.

That looks like you let one of my kids work in your gun.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Or maybe he let Jocko shoot it. Jocko could fokk up an anvil with a rubber mallet.
