  • Got my first Kahr, a PM9. Few quick questions.

I took my new Kahr PM9 out to the range and put her first 350 rounds down the pipe yesterday. Thing fired absolutely flawlessly without a single failure of any kind. No problems what so ever, just kept shooting all kinds of ammo and was accurate to boot. A good replacement for my current EDC, a Kimber Solo.

When I got home I did have a broken follower -- which did not affect the functioning of the firearm in any way shape or form -- but obviously I learned that I likely have too long of a feed ramp. Again, not something I'm concerned about if the firearm keeps functioning.

The weird thing that maybe you guys can shed some light on is the firearm is new, with a serial number over 5000, but the barrel did not come with a polished feed ramp and after the 350 rounds I fired it seems to have developed a "chip" in the bottom left side of the chamber (from brushing against the slide), and dings in the feed ramp itself from the nose of the bullets. Again, I saw absolutely no failures of any kind during my range trip so I'm not too concerned, but I am curious if you guys have seen this on a regular basis and had negative performance issues because of it, or if it's merely a cosmetic thing (which I don't care about).

I did e-mail Kahr to have them send me a new follower and I'll give that a shot, but in the meantime I'll continue shooting this thing with the broken follower -- so long as it keeps working.

Anyhow, here's the picture of the denting in the feed ramp and the little nick in the base of the chamber itself.

Weird right? Or normal? It obviously doesn't matter much as it's functioning perfect.

Whoops. Can someone please move this to the correct sub-forum?

Don't you think that Kahr should take care of the barrel? Why not send another email to Kahr with the picture you show here. You should have gotten a polished feed ramp and Kahr should know that their QA let something like that get shipped.

I would agree to notify Kahr about ALL the issues. I am glad to see you have a great attitude about this, keeping in mind it is working well for you... Let Kahr know, just for the fact that it may be something they would want to know got past them.

That is not right. My CM9 which is 2 years old with nearly 3000 rounds through it doesn't look at all like that. In fact it is still shiny and new looking. Afraid it will cause trouble down the road. They will take care of it. They at least need to know about it.

Alright then. I updated my email to them with a picture of the barrel as well. We'll see what they say. I just wasn't sure what ya'll thought since I didn't actually have any malfunctions.

IMO Kahr should replace the barrel.

Hmm okay. I'll see what they say and we'll go from there. Email seems to be the best?

Just a quick update: I used a pen and ran over the "dented" part of the ramp and pretty much determined that it LOOKS like a dent but isn't actually dented. It's more like the finish on the ramp has slightly marred from the nose of the rounds -- and perhaps when they're fully polished there is no finish to marr and that's why people with the polished ramps don't have the same appearance as mine?

Update: Kahr got back to me super fast and is shipping me a new follower. Told me to return the gun if it breaks another. Can't beat that fast of service.

Yup! But, prior to receiving it, I used a friends magazine and broke that follower too! The gun still functioned 100% thiugh.

Nonethless, called and Kahr sent me a shopping label immediately. Can't wait to get the gun back and keep shooting it!

Kahr received my gun on Monday, and it's in my hands today - wednesday. Unreal turn around!

They replaced the follower and performed a rampectomy including polishing the ramp. All looks great. I'll go fire it next week but I have no reason to believe its anythung but flawless.

sometimes I honestly think Kahr doesn't have a QC department with all the negative spewed all over the internet......

In the end I was out $0 extra and left with an amazingly reliable sub compact firearm. I couldn't be more pleased.
