• New to me CM9: Self Made night sights and mag O-Ring

Been on here a while, been drooling over the CM9 since the day it launched, found one at the local shop on 10/29/14 and within 11 minutes of walking in the door was walking out with my new CM9. What a great piece, love it to death, and can find no flaws with it. It is truly all I hoped for and more.

Anyway, got around to making my own night sights tonight after polishing all internals, and put the small O-Ring on the mag to fill the void between the Pierce (sp?) Grip extension and the frame. Both mags had the Pierce Grips on before I left the store, I'm pretty particular about them, so while the paperwork was being approved by the state I put them on.

Having owned, worked on, and carried daily for 10+yrs I know all too well how the little details can make a big difference, and so far I'm pleased as punch!

Pix of of the final product so far..... (Some external/aesthetic polishing to come)

The glow is from the genuine tritium powder used to lume my Panerai, Omega, Rolex, Tag Heuer and IWC watches. (For my personal and client watch collections. I'm a horologist) Thus the SUPER BRIGHT glow even in well lit areas with little to no "charging". The binding agent in this application is VW automotive clear coat lacquer....

Before: with gap between mag and frame..

    No gap!!

Superliminova C3 will work well in epoxy too but needs charging. But...one charge will work well over 12 hrs. And it has no diminished glow from aging over the years.

C3 is precisely what I used, and agree the epoxies can work famously. I just didn't have any on hand at 11pm on New Years day lol, so I made due.

Testors model airplane window making liquid works well also.

What makes this stuff glow? Can I get past a geiger counter with it?

I got to look up horologist? Blindsided me with that one. Perhaps fear of hookers?

What red-blooded steak eating American male would be afraid of hookers? LOL… A horologist is otherwise known as a watch smith or someone who fixes fine timepieces I happened to be a collector and avid enthusiast with all things watch related.

that being said, I have inventory of many different lume powders, which are charged by UV light. 3-7 minutes of sun exposure or flashlight etc, and it glows BRIGHT for 12-16 hrs. Fascinating stuff really, and I usually do blue but felt a green glow was best on these sites.

Here re is another one of the oistols I have owned and done the same thing....

for or some reason I can't post the link right, so take out the spaces...

Not a fear of hookers Colonel. That would be a horolophobe. I believe a horologist studies them. Not a bad gig I might add.

Can somebody that ain't a horologist buy this magic powder stuff?

My son got a watch for Christmas, the instruction book was about 1/2" thick, the second hand turns into a compass when you push a button, does a ton of stuff.

My other son bought a watch that had a nice readable face, does all kinds of magical stuff, so I got one for myself, a lot cheaper too. But I couldn't ever figure out how to do stuff with it, day light savings hit and I spent an hour trying to fix the time, gave up and gave it to my other son.

I'm trying to find a nice slim watch with numbers and military time and a night light would be pretty cool.
Seems most watches now days weight about 1 1/2 pounds and are 3/4" thick and the bigger and more buttons and knobs to play with the better.

Might have to go back to a sun dial but here in Washington, we sometimes go for months without much sun.

Thanks b4uqzme for the clarification, I guess a fear of hookers would be kind of silly although I think I seen some on TV that I feared a bit. Not sure I ever seen one in person or not, I mean how does one really know ya know?

Dear, Dear Colonel. It's really very simple: Does she take your money? Or does she slap you (and take your money)?

You didn't have to look up horologist, Bawanna. You only had to ask Jocko to explain the meaning. You missed a golden opportunity.

Do I have to explain everything to you guys ? A horologist is someone who practices or is skilled in horology.
