  • I finally fixed my problem child, the CM9

After five months and 400rds of ball ammo, 300rds of HST 124grn ammo, I can finally say with confidence my CM9 run 100% will all ammo and mags.

As a quick reminder, at first I was getting premature slide lock every 3rd round, all mags, all types of ammo.

I adjusted followers and mags lips and finally got it 50% working (ball only), then I started on the slide lock spring.

I moved it, tuned it, bent it and Red and Blue Loctited the set screw it in-place, to varying degrees of improvement.

Finally, got the correct bend in the tip of spring (10d more of a tilt down), the part that sits in the groove in the slide lock.

Friday was the big test. I ran 200rds of mixed ball and HST at max speed with very fast reloads. I used all 10 mags, 6-six round mags, 3-seven round, 1-eight round and all ran fine with multiple reloads. (eight round still has a broken follower, but still ran great)

I am proud to say I did it myself and only gave up on it three times!

Now I've got to get some more HST for my stash.

Always good to hear when a problem child grows up, well done amigo.
In memory of great-grammy; never understood a word she yelled in polish, but we all knew what she meant.

Good for you! Your patience and perseverance paid off. Your story can be an inspiration to others having issues with their Kahr (or any other firearm for that matter).

Curious....why didn't you send it to Kahr to be fixed?

I called Karh in December and they would not honor the warranty because I bought it used. I explained that a few years ago Karh repaired my K9 even though I wasn't the original owner. The gentleman said it was a mistake to do the K9. warranty is not transferable

so i got mad and did it myself.

Would have Kahr fixed your CM9 on your dime? Did they offer to inspect it for a fee? That sounds like extremely poor customer service.

I never had a chance to ask. Was kind of stunned how poor this guys manners were. (I REALLY wanted them to fix this gun for me, on their dime. My hesitation to answer quickly may have seemed like I was agreeing. I was not. I was trying to measure my response, not snap this guys head off.)

So I was transferred, without asking, to sales I think.

                    I hung up.

I would have kept on calling them every day until I found someone halfways pleasant to talk to. If that didn't work, I would have requested to talk to a supervisor.

I am new here and this is my first post. And frankly I am troubled. I purchased a cm9 and now am considering selling it. I don't view reliability as a hobby. I cleaned my cm9, did the break in etc and had no issues but frankly I think kahr needs to up their quality control if this many issues are out in the wild.

People who have great running pistols seldom post. Only the problems are posted, so the problems seem to out number the great running ones, not true.
I currently own three Kahr pistols, two of them never had any issues at all. Ran great out of the box, and not one hiccup, even during breakin.

The third one is a different story, but I think I have the problem identified and fixed.
My point is, if it runs great for you, it most likely always will, the problem children usually exhibit their faults early in the breakin period.

But only you can determine what dependability means to you. Personal experience or something on a web site, which carries the most weight?
