  • Have new CM9, a simple question

Got a new CM9 today, is there a sticky on prep and lube here on the CM9?
I looked around cannot locate it.
    TIA

Smart guy, do the prep and things should go well. Let us know how it goes And congratulations on you're new purchase.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Thanks for the link to prep.
I found a tiny high spot on the slide rail which is rubbing on the side of the chamber portion of the barrel (right side). I will smooth that down very carefully with a stone to prevent any drag on the action.
I checked the mag spring it is OK.
The feed ramp is like a mirror, doubt I could improve that any.
I will flush out the slide and apply some fresh CLP in the designed points shown in that sticky.
I should make it to the range tomorrow, I will post the outcome.

        Thanks again

Good first day with the CM9.

Fired (50) round of Blazer 115 RN grain brass, (50) round of Blazer 124 grain RN aluminum case, and (11) rounds of Remington 147 grain golden saber. No problems at all.
Last (11) rounds fired (golder saber) on this target at about 32'. I still shoot with one hand, this was medium to rapid fire, one got away from me low left. (I stated shooting pistols with one hand in the late 60's, can't get adjusted to using two hands...) Also, I don't practice defensive shooting at 7 yards, just does not seem practical, if I can hit well at 30' or so I feel more comfortable.

Very pleased with the pistol, had no hand fatigue after firing the 111 rounds, this will be an improvement over my reliable but painful Keltec pf9, sold a couple of weeks back. Also this is a better pistol.

I am not going to mess with the little hump in the slide rail, it ain't broke, so not going to fix it. I did clean the pistol and oil it as recommended in the sticky with CLP.

Once I have 350 - 400 rounds through this CM9 it is good to go. I guess I don't have to buy the Glock 43 after all!

Yeah, thanks. The gun has a trigger pull much like my current carry, S&W 642, but the grip on the Kahr cm9 is easier to hold. Well, another 300 rounds or so and good to go for carry.

I bought one of these same model Kahr'slast fall, but the trigger was not near as good as this one, and the mag release was sticky, thus I sold it. Gun was reliable but not comfortable. This one is much better for me.

Sparks, you shoot better with one hand at 32' than most of the guys shoot with two hands at 21'. Being able to shoot well with one hand is a plus, because it leaves the other hand free for other purposes. And yes, I'm still talking self defense here.

Yeah, I don't want to come across as boasting about it. It is just the way I learned when I was a kid, and have been doing so for almost 50 years now. I have tried to shoot with 2 hands but does not work very well. I only wish my eyes would work a little better but I am over 60 and with allergies they get a little blurry.

I do shoot a lot too, and that makes a huge difference. I live 5 minutes from the range and I am retired now (hate that word retired), so I can practice a lot.

This Kahr is a good shooting little pistol, and I am happy I have one now that appears to be reliable, so I can carry it. (7) 9's are a little better than (5) .38's. Plus I can give the cuplrut the finger with my left hand during the altercation!

There was a good article in the Shotgun New a couple of months ago about a study done on the 9mm vs. the 40, which put the 9 out front due to better ammo and a more controllable gun. Darn problem is I did not finish that article and that issue got put out in the trash. Anyway, that study gave me more confidence in the 9mm and with a reliable semi auto (7) should be alright.

Interestingly, I had the opposite experience on the range this past weekend. I shot like crap. I went there this week specifically to work on accuracy and trigger pull. I don't know what it was but my shots were all over the place but mainly low. It don't feel like I like I am flinching but the short trigger reach seemed to be bothering me more that usual this time.

I didn't shoot as well today myself, but some of it was vision, and I was a little lazy too. Just wanted to get 100 more rounds thru the gun.

Is the CM9 rated for +P ammo, I cannot find anything in the manual about it? I would not shoot much of it, just have some on hand I want to fire.

Yes all kahrs are rated to use +P ammo.
                            I carry 124gr +P Gold Dots in my 9mms and 230gr +P Rangers in my CM45.

                            • Q. Which ammunition is recommended for use with Kahr firearms?

                              A.
Kahr Arms does not endorse any particular brand of ammunition. However, not every brand of ammunition produces the same results. Please check the markings on the barrel hood of your firearm to determine the proper caliber. Kahr suggests a visit to a pistol range to test fire different brands of ammunition in the proper caliber. Kahr do not recommend steel case, reloads or un-jacketed ammunition. The Kahr pistol is rated to +P.

Jocko has found the key to accuracy. He aims at nothing and almost always hits it. He's famous for his one shot groups.
