  • Mag Release Issue

I have difficulty with the magazine release on my CM9. I find it hard to press, and usually have to press it "way in" to get the magazine to release. I have to move my hand off of the normal grip position to do it. I have normal sized hands for a man, and only have this issue with my Kahr.
Anyone else see this and is there a fix?

Hi Catalina and welcome to Kahrtalk.......You could contact Kahr and ask for a new mag catch and spring and see if that will make it easier (easy install) but the truth is with these small guns it's more of an issue to accidently hit the release button during recoil and drop magazines so in a way you are better off having to push a little harder on the button to release a magazine...

Most people have to reposition their hand to get to the magazine release. It's a normal condition. See the video link.

If you are new to shooting here is a video on how to properly grip a semi-auto pistol. Both vids should be very helpful.

I don't find mine unusually hard to release. A call to Kahr is probably in order. The parts, the catch and spring, are easy to change.

Yep, been there. I had one that was a bear to release. I took the mag catch out of the gun and noticed there was a burr on the part of the catch that engages in the slot of the magazine. A few light touches to the fine wheel of a bench grinder, followed by a buffing wheel, and it was like new.

It took me more time to type this than it did to make the modification!
