Raised Machined Inside Slide - Nicking or Gouging Barrel

This may have been discussed but.... I noticed some small nicks in the barrel where it sits near the slide ejector port forward.

Is this normal or did Kahr forget to machine the slide... BTW gun seems to shoot fine... not happy with accuracy but all is well in cycling.

The nicks were worse but I knocked them down with fine file....

CNC machines don't forget. They have a mind like a computer. Can you stone the surface? If not, contact Kahr.

That's pretty normal. If it seems excessive or gets worse Kahr will take care of it.

There always seems to be a bit of somewhat premature wear there. I had one that peened badly there and had to have the slide and barrel replaced.

I had that in my cm9. I just stoned it out. The Kahr finishing department isn't the best. Apparently, it's CNC and ship. You accuracy will improve as the pistol settles in and you get used to shooting it. Unlike the more common brands it takes 200 rounds to break the pistol and you in.

Thanks I took at with some fine emery cloth and polish compound tonight in the area that rides the barrel. It is not perfect or flush but the edge is down to where I can't catch a finger nail. I did not have a stone (so I thought). After I put it together I found a stone, but it seems too course. I don't want to grind on it or take off too much metal, but another session, it will be great. I have about 250-300 rounds through it (lost track maybe more), and it has been flawless with my practice ammo. Shot some SD +P in it and that was fine as well.... No reliability problems, just the obvious slide making witness marks in barrel. Who knows maybe they did that on purpose? at as a guide? Ha ha.

Every gun needs to be broken in. Kahr is the only manufacturer to admit it up front. Yes, many guns operate flawlessly from day one including some Kahr pistols, but all of them get better with use. I wouldn't carry any gun that wasn't proven to be reliable.

Up date... Kahr send me email and told me to return the gun and they would take care of it. I am going to think about it this week end. But after another blend and polish on the inside of the slide where the barrel hood rides, it is looking spiffy. I might call them and talk to them. But good for KAHR for their fast customer response....
