  • Used Kahr PM9 serial number IC* with night sights

I have the opportunity to purchase a like new condition PM9 with factory night sights. The one issue I have is the serial number is IC which from the best I can tell means it was manufactured in 2010 or 2011. That means the night sights are 5-6 years old. Any input from fellow members with older Kahr's on how long the night sights last? I would hate to buy it and have to replace the night sights in the next 5 years.

I"m pretty sure the advertised life of night sights is 12 years. So you are right...you're at the half way point. They can be sent to Trijicon and re-lamped when the time comes. Seems to be the most cost effective. Something to check. Does the model number have an "N" in it? That tells you that the sights are original to the gun. If not they could have been added later and may have more life remaining.

Just send an email to Kahr customer service and ask for the manufacture date. I have done this on all six of my Kahr's. I usually get a response within 2 hours (Jay will reply to you)

So funny to come across this thread when just yesterday I was concerned about longevity on some Trij sites on one of my Sigs. This pistol is 11 years old and I pulled it out last night and I was amazed at how bright the trij sites still are. I mean, they are as bright as when I bought the pistol. I'd just hadn't looked at them in the dark in a long time. So I think you're good with the brand.
