Price
Bought my pm9 stainless slide and night sights for 720$ and 820$ after tax.
Why not the pm40 or pm45?
I read all the reviews on here, and actually had a chance to buy a pm40, but after careful thought for severel weeks of research, i felt the 9mm was more then sufficient with +p rounds. I dont want a caliber debate this is my opinion. Shot hit counts, extra rounds in a clip, easier follow up shots, cheap ammo, you cant ask for more. If a bigger caliber makes you feel better then whatever floats your boat.
Pre prepping
I read the kahr tech pre prep and i thought it was over anal about it. All I did was use the kahr lube locations and followed accordingly and instead of the 500 slide ratchets i only did 50 ratchets and quit. The did also find a bunch of crud and shavings in the gun. The serial number tells me it was made newer then april 2010 but the date is unknown.
Range
I bought 200rds of fmj for 53 bucks at walmart. The first four shots i made at 7yards was 1 in the center ring and 3 on the outer ring of the center ring. It was a blast to shoot. I could point and shoot rapid in the chest area at 12yards and hit nice tight groups. It performed flawlessly, no malfunctions whatsoever.
My thoughts on the trigger
I love it! I have shot xds and other handguns and the trigger is butter smooth. The best way to shoot your kahr in my opinion is stage the trigger 3/4 pull in, aim, breathe out, hold and squeeze. In my opinion before i bought my kahr i was looking at a g26 (less money known reliability) but the trigger and size is what turned me away. The long trigger pull is best for conceal carry, the glocks short pull scares me... I know you dont put your finger on the trigger it wont go off.... the kahr makes me feel better with the longer pull.
Recoil
It has snappy recoil as all small subcompacts do...but its not overwhelming or intimidating or makes your hands hurt. But with the .40 cal in my opinion (which i havent shot myself) it has more energy then the 45, would be hard to make follow up shots or feel comfortable shooting...maybe porting but still its like putting a 1000cc sport bike motor in a go cart. Overwhelming.
The bad
Nothing major....only i noticed how sloppy the mag feels when i have it in the gun, feels like it will drop out....but it didnt and had no feed problems. I didnt sand it or check my mags.
Overall thoughts
I know there is a million pm9 reviews, i figured i would over do it and give an extensive rambling one to maybe persuade people to spend the extra 200 to 300$ over the competition. I feel in love with the size and quality, and the extra money spent was definately worth it. Its small, reliable, great quality, and you wont believe how light it is even loaded. I love it! If you guys have any questions about my kahr experience feel free to ask!
